About the Team

The Compensation team designs and manages programs to motivate and retain top talent and enable our Pay for Performance philosophy. Our work impacts every employee globally through the programs we administer. As part of the Total Rewards function, the Global Compensation team strives to provide a consistent and inclusive experience for all DoorDash employees, regardless of their location, background, or job responsibility.

About the Role

The Director, Compensation Design & Delivery will lead the continued development of DoorDash's compensation programs as we scale. Programs include designing our compensation cycles, job architecture, salary ranges, etc. This role will report to the Sr. Director of Global Compensation, lead the Compensation Design & Delivery Team and play an essential role on the Compensation Management Team. We are considering candidates across the U.S. provided they are open to travel as-needed.

You’re excited about this opportunity because you will…

  • Use your technical expertise to develop, implement, communicate and administer total pay programs around base salary and equity compensation, as well as other compensation initiatives such as benchmarking, process improvement, job architecture maintenance, and incentive programs.
  • Partner with department leaders, HR Business Partners, and recruiters on compensation-related matters.
  • Manage, develop, and coach members of the Design & Delivery team.
  • Conduct market studies and analysis to ensure internal equity, external competitiveness, and alignment with our total rewards philosophy.
  • Stay up-to-date with applicable employment-related federal and state statutory requirements regarding employee pay.
  • Work cross-functionally to provide compensation analyses and other deliverables to our partners on the Finance and Legal teams and business leaders.

  • You have experience designing and building compensation programs, including compensation cycles, job architecture, pay models, and benchmarking approaches at rapidly changing companies.
  • You are comfortable with ambiguity and are able to work with stakeholders to find the right questions as well as the right answers.
  • You are a hands-on leader who has previously managed a team of individual contributors or managers. 
  • You have strong business acumen, data analysis skills, and a deep understanding of compensation.
  • You have Workday experience.
  • You have 10+ years of compensation experience in either a consulting or in-house role.
  • You have a bachelor's degree in economics, business, finance, or other STEM discipline.

Pursuant to the Colorado Fair Pay Act, the base salary range in Colorado for this position is $172,800 - $259,200, plus opportunities for equity and commission. Compensation in other geographies may vary.
