Editorial Administrator, Managing Editor’s Office
The role
This is a unique opportunity to be part of a team managing the people and operations of an international newsroom producing world-class journalism. It is an exciting role for someone with superior administration skills to work with the varying deadlines and needs of the Managing Editor’s office and FT journalists.
You will need to juggle your individual tasks and responsibilities whilst also acting as the assistant to the Managing Editor. The abilities of problem solving, organisation and a can-do attitude are key to this job.
This position is part of the Editorial Management team, reporting to the Managing Editor. It is offered on a 12-month fixed-term contract. Whilst conversion to a permanent role within the FT Group is a possibility, it is not guaranteed.
Key duties

Diary management and assistant duties for Managing Editor

Provide administrative support to the Editorial Management team

Coordinate the Managing Editor’s meetings, providing advance prep and booking rooms

Develop and maintain effective working relationships with people in Editorial Management, the newsroom and across the FT

Manage the planning and coordination of key Editorial Management projects and processes, including annual Career Conversations

General office management

Respond quickly and appropriately to a variety of external and internal enquiries

Adhere to Editorial and FT policies and provide guidance to staff where needed

Support and advise on Editorial-wide programmes and initiatives

Provide general administrative support to all Editorial staff
Who we are looking for
The successful candidate will be a superior administrator who is able to talk to people of all levels and roles, with excellent judgement and the ability to multitask. Experience of working in a news organisation is not necessary, but it would be desirable.

How we work
Our hybrid setup means staff are expected to come into the office 3 days a week.
Our office is located across the street from St. Paul's Cathedral and is easily accessible from all corners of London. There are the main train terminals such as Liverpool Street, Moorgate, Blackfriars, City Thameslink or Waterloo all situated within walking distance or there are several tube stations within a few mins walk such as Mansion House (District or Circle line), St. Paul's (Central line), Bank (Central or Waterloo & City line) or Barbican (Central, Hammersmith & City or Metropolitan lines).
