Engineering Manager, Studio Engineering

Studio Engineering builds the products and services used by our internal and external creative partners producing and managing our global content. Our products enable the entire workflow of content production, from pitch to play, and provide innovative new ways to develop and manage entertainment at scale.
You’ll have a direct impact on how the Netflix studio creates and produces shows such as “Stranger Things”, “Squid Games”, “ROMA”, and “¿Quién mato a Sara?” on a global scale. With an increasing slate of original content being produced every year, our products manage billions of dollars worth of content-spend. In short, we make Netflix Originals happen!
We're looking for engineering managers who have strong product development background and experience leading a team of world class software engineers while forging strong trusting partnerships with Product Managers, designers, and customers.
This is an exciting opportunity to work alongside the engineering leadership team in Mexico to help build, scale and shape the new Netflix Studio engineering team.
As a Engineering Manager for Studio Engineering
What you’ll do:
- Team Leadership: build and lead a team of frontend, backend or data engineers
- Technical Vision: re-evaluate architecture choices on an ongoing basis, in anticipation of increased scale and ever-evolving technology to meet the demands of a growing business
- Technical skills: successfully drive infrastructure & tool improvements for new products and existing processes and workflows
- Product Leadership: define and execute the roadmap by collaborating with partners in Product, Design and Operations
- Team building: build and lead an inclusive team of great engineers from different backgrounds, cultures, industries and life experiences
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience leading a team of engineers across functional disciplines
- You are an innovative thinker and are comfortable pushing your own team and influencing other teams to push boundaries
- Ability to actively mentor and coach every member of the team
- Ability to work through ambiguous requirements and make decisions to push forward
- You are passionate about building highly scalable solutions with flexibility factored in to make quick pivots as business evolves
- Experience working with a product team to build a vision for how UX, UI, and the back-end will come together on a given product or features
- You have proven skills in building software systems in a distributed / cloud environment, deployed in a CI/CD fashion
