The Research Team

We are responsible for designing, building, and managing ESG Book’s data products and research models. We are looking for a technically competent sustainability and data expert, who likes to work in a collaborative environment to innovate, advance, and contribute to the development of our fast- growing ESG Solutions business. ESG Solutions offer flexible sustainability scoring and assessment products for a variety of use cases including industry-specific assessments, solvency, investment, supply chain management, and company performance evaluation. Our clients include corporates, financial service companies, and other organisations.

What you will do:

• Developing, testing, deploying and supporting backend systems and services related to ESG rating strategies.
• Becoming a valued member of an autonomous, multi-functional team and contribute to growing the skills and knowledge of your peers
• Ingest, process and analyze different types of ESG, climate and non-financial data
• Work with clients and the ESG Solutions team to develop customized sustainability scores and assessments, including guiding clients of methodological choices

Your Role & Responsibilities:

We are looking to hire a highly motivated ESG Research Analyst with good Python coding skills, and relevant experience using for using ESG data and integrating that information into scoring models (from simple to complicated methodologies). You will be responsible for developing and delivering client products and building our internal infrastructure.

You are expected to:

• Work with clients and the ESG Solutions team to develop customised sustainability scores and assessments, including guiding clients on methodological choices;
• Use Python coding skills to design scoring models and extend our infrastructure;
• Know about the intricacies of ESG, climate, and non-financial data;

• Know how to handle ESG, climate, and non-financial data;
• Utilise Python and database query language (SQL) to manipulate large datasets – both structured and unstructured inputs;
• Co-manage projects and client relations, and coordinate with other teams internally

Requirements

• You have 1+ years of experience working in a technical field
• You have strong computer science and programming fundamentals
• You have a deep understanding of system design, data structures and algorithms
• You care about quality and details, and you know what it means to ship high-quality code that is easy to maintain and extend
• You have strong coding skills in object-oriented Python and are familiar with common libraries for data manipulation and statistics (e.g. numpy, pandas, etc.)
• You can easily work with a range of data stores within the relational SQL world
• Feeling comfortable configuring and working in cloud environments is a plus
• You have experience with large data sets, experience with ESG data is a plus
• You have a good understanding of (basic) statistics (e.g., regression)
• You are passionate about corporate sustainability and building innovative tools, scoring models and real-world products
• You feel comfortable on-boarding, analysing, and quality-assuring large amounts of structured and unstructured data from multiple sources
• You have experience in explaining complex concepts to non-technical audiences
• You are comfortable presenting your work to clients and research partners
