The Executive Assistant will work closely with the Co-Heads of our Employer Segment to help scale our largest customer segment. This person will be responsible for managing key cross-company strategic initiatives and projects, ensuring that the operations of the Employer Segment and Product organization run smoothly, and that the segment has strong practices for coordination, execution, communication, and alignment.
This role serves as the primary partner to the Heads of the Employer Segment (who also serve as the Heads of Product and Product Engineering) and to the rest of the Employer Segment cross-functional leadership team. You will be asked to represent the Heads of the Employer Segment and make decisions in their absence/serve as proxy. You will be in a key leadership position, helping to drive Gusto forward and scale.
What it is like to Work with Gusto.
Here’s what you’ll do day-to-day:
- Perform core admin work (calendar, travel, budget/expenses, community and culture through offsites/events/zoomsites, strong organizational skills).
- Ensure the Heads of Employer Segment are making the most of their time through planning, delegating, coordinating and managing the segment calendar.
- Help set up and program manage key strategic initiatives on the Employer Segment team (examples: project planning process, organizational and operational changes)
- Coordinate the planning, tracking and management of the Segment operations, ensuring the right people are kept informed and involved when action needs to be taken.
- Serve as Business partner on internal communications and project management.
- Work with the Heads of the Employer Segment and the office of the CEO on Gusto strategic planning processes, including 3 year strategic planning exercises, current fiscal year planning and reporting, Segment lead meetings, and other strategic discussions.
- Ensure the Segment is financially and operationally healthy, working with the leads to identify areas of need and leading processes to monitor health and ensure the appropriate actions are taken when needed.
- Be a leader on the ExecOps team on projects, resources and mentorship, helping others to develop their processes and grow their skills.
Here’s what we're looking for:
- Someone with 5+ years as an executive assistant, senior coordinator/project manager, or Chief of Staff.
- Significant experience partnering with senior (VP+) leaders in a high growth, dynamic environment
- Strong project management skills; ability to manage multiple stakeholders and competing priorities across multiple organizations.
- Strong executive presence & communication, proven ability to influence and coach leaders, and exceptional interpersonal skills
- Strategic thinker who can translate strategy into plans for execution.
- Ability to forge strong Cross-Functional Partnership with Employer Segment leads, fellow Executive Operation peers, Chiefs of Staff/Heads of I&O, and company leaders (eg CEO, COO, CMO, Head of Sales)

Our cash compensation amount for this role is targeted at $111,000 to $130,000 in San Francisco. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including candidate experience and expertise and may vary from the amounts listed above.
