FHIR Implementation Specialist

Accountabilities:
  • Lead the implementation and evolution of FHIR standards across healthcare data systems to ensure accurate and efficient interoperability
  • Design and manage data ingestion pipelines, transforming clinical data into FHIR-compliant resources through robust ETL processes
  • Develop and maintain data mapping specifications to convert non-FHIR formats (HL7, XML, JSON) into standardized FHIR structures
  • Build and support scalable RESTful API endpoints for secure and efficient healthcare data exchange
  • Implement security controls and compliance measures aligned with HIPAA and other healthcare data privacy regulations
  • Document system architectures, data flows, and transformation logic using tools such as Confluence
  • Participate in agile ceremonies, including PI planning, and contribute to cross-functional delivery efforts
  • Requirements:

    • 7+ years of experience in healthcare IT, interoperability, or healthcare data integration
    • 5+ years of hands-on experience with FHIR standards and healthcare data exchange systems
    • 4+ years of experience in Java development, with additional exposure to Python or Ruby on Rails considered a plus
    • Strong experience building RESTful APIs using object-oriented programming frameworks (e.g., Java/Spring)
    • Deep understanding of healthcare data standards including HL7v2, FHIR, JSON, XML, and clinical terminologies (ICD, SNOMED, CPT/HCPCS, LOINC)
    • Experience working with large-scale clinical datasets, including data cleansing, normalization, and quality improvement
    • Familiarity with concept mapping and interoperability modeling within FHIR resource frameworks
    • Experience working in agile, multidisciplinary teams and engaging with stakeholders in complex environments
    • Strong problem-solving mindset, adaptability, and ability to learn new technologies quickly
    • Must be a US citizen or Permanent Resident and reside in the Continental United States
    • Benefits:

      • Salary range: $145,000 – $155,000 annually, depending on experience and location
