Job Description 

Position Title: Finance Controller
Location: Niseko, Japan. Remote considered, with regular trips to Niseko 
Reports to: Senior Director of Finance
Contract Term: 1st August, 2026 - Permanent, Full-time 
Salary: DOE

Position Summary: 

The Controller oversees all Japan accounting functions, including the development and management of accounting processes and policies, technical accounting research, internal controls, cash and debt management, tax compliance, audits, and financial reporting. This leadership role requires a strategic, hands-on approach to ensuring accuracy and driving automation across our business.    

Key Responsibilities and Duties:

Strategic Leadership and Business Enablement 

• Translate strategic goals into departmental actions and financial plans
• Act as the main financial liaison with cross-functional teams
• Identify, implement, manage, and optimize financial systems that automate procedures (be a digital transformation champion)

Financial Management & Reporting 

• Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and statements of cash flows on a consolidated level and for each individual business and location
• Collaborate with the Finance team to produce the required budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management processes
• Ensure accuracy of financial information and adherence to accounting standards, including income statements, balance sheets, and statement of cash flows on a consolidated level and for each individual business and location (e.g., JGAP, GAAP, IFRS)

Risk, Tax, and Compliance Management 

• Develop and enforce financial internal controls to safeguard assets and minimize financial risk
• Regularly review and update internal procedures to improve operational efficiency and reduce financial risk
• Coordinate Internal controls and compliance with relevant laws and regulations
• Manage tax planning and tax submissions
• Coordinate audit processes; ensure timely resolution
• Stay current with changes in tax laws and financial regulations, ensuring company compliance and communication of those across the team

Qualifications and what you need to succeed:

• CPA, CA, or similar professional accounting qualification preferred; MBA or other advanced business qualification is a plus
• Business-level English required; Japanese language skills are an advantage but not essential
• Experience in public accounting, corporate finance, controllership, or related financial leadership roles
• Experience as a Controller, Finance Manager, Head of Finance, or similar role within a growing mid-sized organization
• Experience in retail, hospitality, tourism, multi-site, or other operationally complex and high growth businesses is beneficial
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
• Experience with ERP systems, financial systems, and process automation initiatives essential
• Finance transformation experience highly regarded
• Demonstrated ability to improve financial and operational processes, enhance reporting, and drive operational efficiencies through technology and automation
• Strong analytical, organizational, and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment
• Self-motivated, collaborative, and adaptable, with a continuous learning mindset and a willingness to mentor and develop team members
• Comfortable working in a hands-on, entrepreneurial environment and partnering across functions to support business growth
• Proven ability to make sound decisions, solve problems, and deliver results in a fast-paced setting

職務概要

コントローラーとして、日本国内におけるすべての会計業務を統括します。これには、会計プロセスやポリシーの策定・管理、テクニカル・アカウンティング（専門的会計）調査、内部統制、資金・債務管理、税務コンプライアンス、監査対応、および財務報告が含まれます。本ポジションは、業務の正確性を確保するだけでなく、ビジネス全体の自動化を推進するために戦略的かつ実務的なアプローチを主導するリーダーシップが求められます。

主な職務内容：

戦略的リーダーシップとビジネス支援

• 経営戦略目標を部門のアクションプランおよび財務計画に反映させる。
• 部門横断的なチームにおける主要な財務リエゾン（橋渡し役）として機能する。
• 業務プロセスの自動化を推進する財務システムの選定、導入、管理、最適化を行う（デジタルトランスフォーメーションの推進）。
  
  

財務管理および報告

• 連結ベース、および各事業拠点別の正確かつタイムリーな財務諸表（損益計算書、貸借対照表、キャッシュフロー計算書）を作成する。
• ファイナンスチームと協力し、必要な予算策定、予測、キャッシュフロー管理プロセスを構築する。
• 財務情報の正確性を確保し、会計基準（日本基準、米国基準、IFRS等）に準拠した管理を行う。
  
  

リスク・税務・コンプライアンス管理

• 資産保護と財務リスク最小化のため、財務内部統制を構築・強化する。
• 定期的に内部手順を見直し、業務効率の向上とリスク低減を図る。
• 内部統制を調整し、関連法規への遵守を徹底する。
• 税務計画の策定および納税申告の管理を行う。
• 監査プロセスを調整し、指摘事項のタイムリーな解決を確実にする。
• 税法や財務規制の変更を常に把握し、社内コンプライアンスの遵守とチームへの情報共有を行う。
  
  

応募資格：

• CPA、CA、または同等の専門会計資格をお持ちの方歓迎。MBAまたはその他の上級ビジネス資格があれば尚可
• 業務レベルの英語力必須。日本語スキルがあれば尚可(必須ではありません)
• 会計事務所、コーポレートファイナンス、コントローラー業務、またはこれに関連する財務リーダーシップ職での経験
• 成長中の中規模組織におけるコントローラー、ファイナンスマネージャー、財務責任者、またはこれに準ずる職務経験
• 小売、ホスピタリティ、観光、複数拠点展開、またはその他運営が複雑で高成長な事業での経験があれば尚可
• Microsoft Office(特にExcel、Word、PowerPoint)に関する高い習熟度
• ERPシステム、財務システム、業務プロセス自動化の取り組みに関する経験必須
• ファイナンス・トランスフォーメーション(財務変革)の経験を高く評価
• テクノロジーと自動化を活用し、財務・業務プロセスの改善、レポーティングの強化、業務効率の向上を実現してきた実績
• 高い分析力、組織運営力、プロジェクトマネジメント力を有し、変化の多い環境下で複数の優先事項を管理できる能力
