About you

You’ll be joining the Financial Crime Operations team as a Financial Crime Intelligence Lead. Reporting to the Head of Financial Crime Operations, you’ll be a part of a fast-growing business that is challenging the market and doing things differently.

The Financial Crime Intelligence Lead will act as a subject matter expert for financial intelligence analysis across our respondent FI and NBFI client base. Responsibilities will include the provision of tactical and strategic intelligence capabilities and developing our public private partnership. You will lead a small team of Analysts and will be responsible for responsibilities work allocation and prioritisation, collation, and interpretation of Management Information, to be the principal escalation point for the team and to own and maintain the Intelligence procedures and guidelines.

You will be

We believe that the best financial crime professionals enjoy what they do. Candidates should have proven experience in financial intelligence across FI and NBFIs. You will need to have a strong understanding of financial crime typologies and detection methods and be able to work in a fast-paced environment, whilst being comfortable dealing with change and take pride in owning and mitigating financial crime risk for the business.

The Lead will need to be experienced in raising concerns and providing ideas, engaging with clients, and making informed decisions. Candidates should have sound knowledge of correspondent banking services; strong technical and regulatory knowledge across financial crime and Sanctions within the UK and EEA, and a firm understanding of how to identify and mitigate risks within a business.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Responsible for reviewing, policies, procedures, processes related to Financial Crime Operations and regulatory requirements
  • Act as an escalation point supporting complex intelligence matters, documenting, and concluding as appropriate
  • Complete Control Testing intelligence activities as defined in the Risk Controls Self-Assessment
  • Support the development and implementation of new systems and controls
  • To collate and review Management Information
  • Provide input and work with colleagues to develop Sanctions Screening guidelines and Transaction Monitoring Rules
  • Manage work allocation / prioritization across the Intelligence team
  • Subject matter expertise within financial intelligence analysis across FIs and NBFIs
  • Have a deep understanding of the risks within correspondent banking and experience in detection and mitigation of such risk
  • Assist with building Financial Crime / sanctions and money laundering typologies knowledge within the team and across the wider business
  • Conduct complex intelligence analysis using large data sets to identify unusual themes and patterns
  • Manage and resolve end-to-end inquiries (alerts, cases, reviews) in a timely manner
  • Conduct research using internal and external sources to help determine potential suspicious activity and disposition or investigate as appropriate
  • Present recommendations on clients, to include exit, supported by comprehensive assessments on Financial Crime risks and outcomes of analysis
  • Where appropriate, facilitate requests for information (RFIs) by liaising with clients and/or RMs
  • Proactively identify trends and emerging themes that can be used to enhance detection capabilities
  • Manage competing tasks and priorities in a manner that effectively mitigates top risks.
  • Apply strong technical and regulatory knowledge to identify potential control / risk issues
  • Provide subject matter expertise on change programmes or new product development
  • Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders across the business to meet role objectives and deliver key activities

What we are looking for

  • Strong knowledge of financial crime control frameworks and regulatory standards.
  • Strong knowledge of sectors such as money remittance, electronic money, APIs, Cryptocurrency firms, and merchant acquirers
  • Significant knowledge of UK and EU AML/CTF legislation (international AML/CTF knowledge is advantageous)
  • Significant knowledge of money laundering typologies across a range of products and services in financial services
  • Significant experience dealing with complex business models, PEPs, sanctions, red flags, and suspicious activity investigation
  • Self-starter, able to work independently when needed, and to prioritise tasks
  • Ability to communicate and negotiate with key stakeholders
  • Strong attention to detail and good judgement
  • Work to tight deadlines under pressure whilst maintaining high level of quality and competency
  • A recognised AML / Sanctions / Fraud qualification is desirable but not essential
  • Solutions driven, with the appetite for constant improvement
