Terraform
Founder's Associate
Monumental is automating on-site construction with robotics and software. Our mission is to make construction primarily software-defined and work towards a future where beautiful, bespoke buildings are built within a single day with minimal labor.
We’re a small team of mostly engineers (coming from companies like Palantir, Qualcomm, Dyson and Shopify) that is looking to expand the operational part of our business.
We're still in the first days of building the company and this is a unique opportunity to be an early employee in a high-growth, high ambition startup environment. From Day 1, you’ll be able to work with an experienced founding team backed by top-tier investors.
You can read a bit more on why we believe you should spend your time working on construction, learn more about our vision and about the company.
About you and this role
We are looking for a Founder’s Associate to join our team and support our founders with a broad variety of strategic and tactical projects.
Our team is a 15 person team where the majority are engineers, with just 2 non-technical team members so far. As we’re scaling the company over the coming years, we’re looking for someone who is comfortable switching roles from recruiting, to marketing, to supply chain management, to whatever new problems needs to be fixed. We expect this role to be both strategic and very tactical: you will have a high level of autonomy to dive into whatever project is a priority, demonstrating ownership mentality, a willingness to get your hands dirty to get things done, and where no task is too small.
What you might be working on
- Scale up our engineering recruiting process: help us actively source the best candidates, think about our employer branding, and jump in on candidate interviews.
- Help with setting up and running a recruiting pipeline, onboarding and review process for construction robot operators, field operators, and assembly technicians.
- Support the CEO with investor relations: e.g., preparing investor updates and board packs
- Running marketing projects such as a new website launch or coordinating a public relations outreach strategy
- Special projects such as setting up a supply chain/inventory management system for our hardware team
- Doing a deep dive on a legal or regulatory question that affects our business
What we’re looking for
- Above all, you’re an execution and getting-things-done machine. You jump head-first into projects with high energy.
- You’re a constant learner, able to quickly absorb and use new information.
- Comfortable with context-switching and multi-tasking within a day.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills with great attention to detail.
- You’re analytical and comfortable with digital tools and workflows. You should be able to build complicated spreadsheets, organize a Notion space in a useful way, perhaps building a Zapier-type integration to link systems together, etc. You should be comfortable picking up new tools quickly (e.g. recruiting software)
- Knowledge of the startup or venture world is a plus but not a hard requirement. E.g., knowing what a “cap table” is or the difference between a SAFE and an equity round. Otherwise, being able to pick those things up quickly is expected.
- Fluent verbal and written English
- B.Sc. or equivalent preferred, 2 year work experience minimum. Having an engineering/technical degree is a bonus.
Interested? Get in touch with us: iwanttojoin@monumental.co, and tell us a bit about the most interesting or difficult project you’ve worked on to date.
If you don’t meet all the qualifications here but are excited about Monumental and feel you’d still be able to help us solve difficult problems, do get in touch. We are open to generalists with a demonstrated ability to focus on outcomes and get things done and are comfortable with you learning things as you go along.
