Head of Music - Middle East & North Africa
We are seeking an experienced music leader and strategist with excellent management skills and strong relationships who is used to working in a dynamic environment to head up our Music Team in the Middle East.
This position is based in Dubai reporting to the Managing Director, Middle East & Africa. The Head of Music will work with the local Editorial and Artist & Label Partnerships teams to develop and run local music strategy and operations, as well as execute against a global strategic agenda and support key aspects of company-wide objectives.
The Head of Music will be responsible for Spotify’s music goals and targets, and the operating plans and execution required to reach them. Above all, the Head of Music will push Spotify to be the premier music offering and partner, and will drive the way Middle East & North Africa experiences music.
Qualified candidates should have significant experience leading a large business organisation in the music and/or entertainment media space, and be strategic, knowledgeable and networked in the local music industry. A strong candidate will possess outstanding leadership skills, evidenced by a track record of successfully managing accomplished and diverse teams, and be comfortable operating at the ‘C-level’ within a matrixed environment.

What you will do
- Business Operations
- Drive development of new music and content strategies and champion critical initiatives
- Support strategic artist partnerships and marketing campaigns
- Support music programming and editorial strategies
- Collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams to fulfill strategic goals and advocate for market needs internally
- Conduct pro-actively strategic and operational analyses to drive insights and evolve strategies for long-term planning of music team investments and people management
- Track and measure performance and investments of the music operation
- Provide direction on annual and quarterly planning
- Explain and champion the Spotify business model to partners across the artist and label community and broader local and international industry
- Regional Leadership
- Lead, develop and inspire all functions in the regional Music organisation
- Ensure clarity of purpose, speed of delivery and empowerment to execute in teams
- Assess, coach, mentor and train team members based on competency profiles and develop talent at all levels helping them move from good to great
- Disseminate the Spotify culture, creating an environment for people to learn and grow; inspire and motivate cross functional teams in the region
Who you are
- You have an academic degree and significant management experience with an established digital music service, record label or artist management company
- You are a strong people manager who is invested in team development and able to foster a healthy team culture
- You have experience in Arabic Music Industry required
- You have experience building and running teams in a hyper growth environmentYou are able to build close working relationships with peers and management across a broad and complex geographic region
- You have experience in marketing, strategy and operations, music and technology
- You are a strong communicator with excellent negotiating and people skills
- You possess strong analytical skills, own the ability and drive to continuously source, analyze and interpret data, using it to set performance targets and long-term business goals
- You are well organized, with the ability to plan and deliver on tight deadlines
- You have a disciplined approach to managing processes and streamlining workflows
- You have an extensive network of music industry contact including rights holders, managers, agents, promoters, and artists
- Arabic language a must
