As our Head of New Ventures, you will have a unique opportunity to make a significant contribution to an array of companies looking to disrupt the health care marketplace. You will be able to make a huge impact in a range of areas, and ensure that Redesign’s various operating companies have the greatest impact within the health care system. This role allows someone to get involvement in both creation of operating companies and investing. You have the chance to grow and design your own organization at the nexus of much of what Redesign does.
What you'll do:
Team and Process Management
Develop a high performing New Ventures Team
- Manage the New Ventures team, establishing both team and individual objectives to ensure focus and execution on critical success drivers
- Create a culture of high levels of engagement within the New Ventures team.
- Work with each member of the team to develop and implement career development plans
- Manage and determine resource and budget needs for the team.
- Develop a company-first attitude and culture for all in the team.
- Coach the New Ventures team on project management alongside the relevant Venture Chair on each given project.
- Live the Redesign Health values and virtues.
Ensure new ventures are launched with high fidelity, diligence, and speed
- Drive adherence to the New Ventures research and launch process.
- Collaborate with other teams to develop a library of playbooks and sample material to communicate best practices to existing employees and to train new hires on the New Ventures process.
- Work closely with each of the other teams at Redesign to optimize workflow communication and ensure efficient collaboration.
- Continually evaluate the fidelity and efficiency of the process against core KPIs. Optimize and update the New Ventures process over time in collaboration with the team and broader platform.
- Identify improvements that can be implemented with new technologies, workflows, processes, or structural changes.
Research and Launch Process Management
Own Top of Funnel Research
- Work with the team to align on thematic areas of interest.
- Create a framework for analyzing segments of the healthcare industry for further analysis.
- Drive thematic and industry research to inform future ideation.
- Own the research budget for external resources (externs, consultants, expert networks, etc)
- Build a world-class group of advisors to accelerate the research process.
- Collaborate with the other teams around Redesign to draw inspiration for ideas from additional viewpoints.
Oversee Idea Development and Triage
- Oversee the development of structured ideation sessions to translate thematic and industry research into tangible ideas. Collaborate with the Ideation Architect to continue to improve the structured ideation process.
- Manage adherence to the New Venture process and act as a sounding board for team members as they encounter roadblocks.
- Periodically review project progress alongside other team leaders (product, talent, legal, etc) to drive high-quality outcomes and to manage resource allocation
- Ensure that the teams translate initial hypotheses into actionable fully vetted concepts ready for funding.
Collaborate on Post-Funding to Launch Companies
- Work alongside Redesign’s Venture Chairs, Legal, Talent Acquisition, Product, and Finance teams to ensure adherence to the Redesign method in launching new ventures.
- Represent the New Ventures team as a member of Launch meetings to ensure translation of research into initial operations
What you'll need:
- Background
- Worked within a high performance investment firm with a track record of successfully owning investment decision making
- Successfully managed a high performing team of 3+ people.
- Have a passion for healthcare, where you are reading and learning about it in your spare time
- Skills
- Demonstrated financial acumen and deep understanding of business fundamentals
