About the role
As the Head of Operations, you will have responsibility for overseeing the Operations Team to ensure the smooth running of the platform whilst assisting with the building out of new products and services. The Operations team will comprise a range of functions, including but not limited to compliance, risk management, operations, security and finance. You will assist the Managing Director, United Kingdom in building out a local team that can support Kraken’s operations in the UK in order to serve and grow its client base.
The ideal candidate should have experience working in a fintech or exchange trading environment, with a deep understanding of the trading cycle of crypto assets; a good understanding of regulatory frameworks applicable to crypto asset providers in the UK and Europe would be beneficial.
This role is based in London
Responsibilities
- Be responsible for the day to day operations of the Kraken spot business in the UK
- Be the accountable individual for all queries pertaining to the operation of the platform, including from both external and internal stakeholders
- Work closely with the MD, UK to ensure business goals are being achieved and regulatory requirements are met
- Gain an in-depth understanding of operational risks (including technology security risk, operational resilience)
- Monitor internal and external business, regulatory and technology environments to identify new or emerging risks and verify remediation of issues as applicable.
- Establish strong working relationships across Group functions and management levels, working collaboratively and independently
- Oversee the technical implementation of new regulatory requirements as they arise and assess the impact from an operational standpoint of new regulatory initiatives
- Support the Product Team for any new product roll out in the region.
Requirements
- Graduate degree or professional certifications in a relevant field
- 8+ years holding increasing responsibility in Operations functions, including at least once holding the Head of Operations position at a fintech or financial institution, ideally with experience as a company director
- Knowledge of the UK and EU regulatory environment, and upcoming developments is preferable
- Familiarity with anti-money laundering and know-your-customer best practices in the UK market is a bonus
- Skilled in collaborating with stakeholders at all levels across technical and non-technical groups
- Ability to lead in a fast growing company environment with focused and hardworking individuals
