Head of Talent, Europe and APAC

As we expand our Talent footprint around the globe we are seeking a senior leader in the HR space. This leader will support us in creating the strategy, environments and practices we need to best support a successful future. This Head of Talent will be based in Berlin and be a key contact for our business leaders outside North America.
The Head of Talent will lead a team of Business Partners, Talent Acquisition and other Talent team members working out of Europe and APAC. This role will be closely aligned with the Talent Leadership team and will report directly to Janeen Speer, VP Talent. Occasional regional and international travel will be required.
In this role, you'll have a chance to work on things like:
Global Talent Strategy
- Develop an understanding of Shopify’s global priorities in the short and long term as it relates to Europe and APAC
- Inform recommendations and direction of the Talent strategy based on review of key data points and localized context
- Understand, internalize and champion what Shopify values within varied global contexts
- Build and maintain Shopify’s Talent community in Europe and APAC
- Participate and influence work related to growing Shopify’s employer brand
Leading the Team
- Provide coaching and strong leadership to the leaders in market including the ability to drive for results across multiple teams and lines of business
- Level up the skills of the employees and their respective teams reporting directly into the Head of Talent, Europe and APAC
Communication and Relationship Building
- Advocate and teach others in Talent and in Shopify to understand what it means to operate in a global context
- Have the ability to connect and create high trust relationships with various stakeholders regardless of location or distance
You'll need to have:
- Knowledge of and understanding of local legislation as it relates to labour laws and HR matters within Europe and APAC
- Comfort with ambiguity and the ability to collaborate across multiple areas in order to achieve common organizational objectives
- Excellent judgment, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to speak multiple languages - this would be considered an asset
