About the business and the role

We are recruiting for a passionate Project HSE Manager to join our HSE team. This is a permanent full time role based in Manila. The role will be responsible for providing Health, Safety and Environmental support for Metro Manila Subway Project (MMSP) operations.

The primary purpose is to contribute to influence positive attitudes and behaviours that foster a positive safety culture, ensure continuous improvement and good corporate governance of Health, Safety and Environmental requirements.    

The secondary purpose is to support the project leadership team and provide expert advice, support and coordination to maintain compliance with Workplace Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) legislation, GBMS and client requirements.

This is an exciting opportunity to work on a high profile rail infrastructure project as part of a global team.  

You will enjoy having these responsibilities, but not limited to:

  • Leadership of the HSE function on the MMSP project
  • Development and implementation of HSE Strategies and plans
  • Maintain ISO safety and environmental accreditation activities
  • Oversee governance, monitoring and inspection mechanisms
  • Facilitate the communication and consultation of necessary HSE information/ lessons learned
  • Monitor and partner with Contractors to continuously improve HSE performance
  • Providing technical advice and coaching including safety leadership, risk management, HSE systems, incident investigation, audits and training
  • Drive continuous improvement of HSE, contributing to implementation of best practice, improved safety leadership, engagement with the workforce and influencing of positive behaviours
  • Ensure all activities undertaken in country and on projects comply with applicable Health Safety and Environment related legislation, GBMS and contractual requirements.

You have:

  • Tertiary qualification in HSE and 10+ years’ experience in a high risk industry
  • Experience in rail and client facing role highly regarded
  • Working knowledge of the Philippine legal framework, legislation and HSE management systems.
  • High standard of spoken and written English and fluent Tagalog due to the nature of the role, which requires communication with stakeholders
  • Strong interpersonal skills including network-building, problem solving and the ability to work with and influence people at all levels.
  • The ability to develop and maintain a positive working relationship with internal and external stakeholders.
  • HSE performance reporting experience to senior management and external to authorities
  • Good attention to detail, have an enquiring mind and have a desire for continuous improvement.
  • Experience developing and introducing HSE policies and procedures. 
  • Intermediate IT skills - MS Office Suite.
