We have an exciting opportunity available for a talented Imports Controller to join this dynamic team!

The Imports Controller's main responsibility is to plan, coordinate, and execute imports. This position would be ideal for someone who is looking to utilize their knowledge and skills in imports, freights, shipping, and clearing, and thrives working in an exciting and fast-paced environment.

The Imports Controller's responsibilities would include:

• Updating the sales team daily on import orders/shipments
• Receiving orders via email from sales and opening and managing orders on Sage Evolution
• Placing orders and any additions thereafter with overseas suppliers
• Liaising with sales regarding their orders, i.e. part availability, urgency
• Liaising with suppliers regarding order-ready dates
• Booking and liaising with forwarder/courier daily
• Organizing consolidation shipment with forwarders
• Supplying clearing instructions with Customs tariffed invoice to forwarders
• Checking order confirmations against purchase orders, i.e. pricing, part numbers, etc.
• Getting quotes from forwarders and checking pricing on forwarders' invoices
• Monitoring freight percentages on all shipments
• Checking invoices against purchase orders and processing costings on Sage Evolution
• Following up with suppliers regarding back-orders and shortages

Requirements

• Grade 12 (essential)
• Related Tertiary Qualification in customs clearing and Import/Export (beneficial)
• Minimum of three years relevant experience as an Imports Controller in the freight/shipping and clearing sector.
• Solid knowledge of Freight and Shipping
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and advanced knowledge of Excel is essential
• Experience working with Sage Evolution or similar
• Skilled communicator who provides quality communication to suppliers
• Ability to build strong relationships with customers and suppliers
• Service and customer-experience focused
• Can manage high volumes whilst maintaining a high level of detail and accuracy
• Proactive and organized
• Strong listening and writing skills
• Strong team player who can also work independently
• Exception at problem-solving and is solutions-driven
