IT Engineer

So we are looking for an enthusiastic open-minded IT Engineer who is up to the challenge to build and mature a multi-stakeholder IT ecosystem that supports efficient workflows in the SaaS space while keeping IT operations lean.
THE ROLE
The goal of the role is to make people at Horangi productive. With over 70 SaaS (Software as a Service) systems utilized at Horangi, the IT Engineer works on increasing Horangi employees’ productivity by supporting them to use those systems efficiently. He/she manages the IT helpdesk, creates documentation, and deploys, configures, maintains numerous systems to work stably and coherently.
The productivity gain of the company starts with the efficiency of IT itself. The IT Engineer is responsible for establishing processes and metrics, coordinating projects with multiple stakeholders, optimizing existing systems, and planning and deploying the IT ecosystem with code and cutting-edge tools. He/she works closely with Horangi’s Internal Security, Cloud Engineering, and Cyber Security Consulting Teams as we build new products and best-in-class services. It is an excellent opportunity to dive into the cloud world and learn cloud devops and cloud security.
What You’ll Do
- IT onboarding of new employees
- Administration of SaaS solutions
- Working with each department to adopt full functionality of SaaS solutions and increase productivity
- Access management
- Ticket management
- Troubleshooting of all PC (Mac/Windows) issues
- Documentation of user guides and internal procedures
- Software assets management
- IT procurement management
- Plan and implement new IT projects like SCIM, remote management of workstations, infrastructure performance monitoring, patch management etc
- Harden IT systems and improve IT security
Horangi is a modern technology company with numerous online systems for each team’s workflow and with infrastructure in the cloud. The IT Engineer needs to be able to work with technical and business teams, understand their requirements, and support optimal use of online systems and cloud infrastructure.
Technology Stack
Horangi utilizes the following technologies for collaboration and productivity. It would be beneficial if candidates are familiar with most of them or their analogies.
- Business collaboration tools like Google Workspace, Monday.com, Atlassian Confluence, Slack, GitHub, Microsoft Office 365.
- Security solutions, including EDR, DLP, Password Management.
- A cloud directory service and SSO.
- VPN and ZeroTrust solutions.
- Multi-cloud environment: AWS, GCP, Azure.
What we’re looking for
Our ideal candidate is coming from a background of IT Engineer, Technical Support Engineer or IT Help Desk Technician or similar role and keen to become versed in SaaS and cloud space.
Our ideal candidate must be able to quickly solve any IT-related problems as well as plan and execute end-to-end a long-term solution addressing the core of the problem. He/she should be interested in learning and growing in the cloud space. The candidate has a servant mindset and serves both their team and customers. The candidate asks questions, is confident in not knowing everything, and would rather collaborate with others than go it alone. The candidate needs to communicate effectively, as we value responsiveness and transparency in our culture. He/she possesses a security mindset, as IT goes hand in hand with security at Horangi.
Must Have
- 7+ years of overall work experience.
- 4+ years of hands-on experience in everything IT.
- Proven experience in management and improvement of an IT helpdesk as well as an ability to roll up your sleeves and handle IT tickets, troubleshoot systems, and write code.
- Excellent technical writing skills and experience in creation of structured and clear documentation.
- Hands-on experience in networking, OS systems administration (Mac and Windows), and IT systems administrations (Google Workspace, Atlassian Confluence, Monday.com etc.).
- Management of directory services and remote provisioning of software on OS systems.
- Scripting with bash, PowerShell, Python or any other scripting languages.
- An ability to design and conduct training.
Good To Have
- ITIL certification.
- Experience working in the startup/entrepreneurial environment.
- Experience to plan, procure, and deploy IT systems.
- Familiar with infrastructure management in AWS.
- AWS or GCP certifications preferred.
- Development experience for automation.
- Experience with Microsoft O365 and Azure is a big plus!
- Security interest and some relevant projects to show.
- Experience with guiding and mentoring juniors.
