Job Summary
The Junior HSEC / Social / ESG Officer will support the implementation and monitoring of Health, Safety, Environment, Social, or ESG requirements across projects in Guinea. The role involves field-based monitoring, stakeholder engagement, data collection, and reporting in line with Guinean regulations, client standards, and international E&S frameworks.
This role is suitable for a proactive professional with hands-on experience in HSEC, social safeguards, or ESG, seeking to grow within project-based or consulting environments.
Key Responsibilities
HSEC (Health, Safety & Environment)
- Support implementation of HSE policies, procedures, and site-specific HSE plans.
- Conduct site inspections, toolbox talks, and safety awareness sessions.
- Monitor compliance with Guinean HSE regulations and client requirements.
- Support incident reporting, investigations, and corrective actions.
- Assist with environmental monitoring (waste management, emissions, water, dust, noise, biodiversity).
Social & Environmental Safeguards
- Support implementation and monitoring of ESMPs and site mitigation measures.
- Assist in stakeholder engagement and community consultations.
- Support grievance redress mechanisms (GRM) and documentation of complaints.
- Collect social data related to labor and working conditions, community health and safety, and land access.
ESG & Compliance
- Support ESG data collection, tracking, and reporting.
- Assist in preparation of HSEC / ESG monitoring reports for clients and lenders.
- Support compliance with IFC Performance Standards, World Bank ESF, AfDB safeguards, and relevant ISO standards.
- Participate in audits, inspections, and E&S assessments.
General Duties
- Participate in field missions and site visits across Guinea.
- Maintain accurate HSEC / ESG records and documentation.
- Support training, awareness campaigns, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Sciences or Social Sciences or HSE or Sustainability or related field.
- 2–5 years of experience in HSEC, social safeguards, ESG, or E&S roles, preferably in mining, infrastructure, energy, or construction projects.
Required Skills & Competencies
- Knowledge of HSEC and ESG principles and field implementation.
- Familiarity with ESIAs, ESMPs, and monitoring frameworks.
- Understanding of international standards (IFC PS, World Bank ESF, AfDB).
- Strong reporting and data collection skills.
- Ability to work in remote and multicultural environments.
- Good communication skills in French (English an advantage).
Preferred
- Previous experience working in Guinea or West Africa.
- Basic HSE or ESG certifications (NEBOSH, ISO 14001/45001 awareness, etc.).
- Experience with community engagement or field surveys.
