Junior Mechanical Engineer – UAV Systems

TLDR

Design, build, and refine UAV mechanical systems from concept to production-ready parts.

What we’re looking for

We're looking for a mechanically minded, hands-on engineer to turn ideas into reality. In this role, you'll design, build, and refine mechanical systems, from drones to production-ready parts, blending solid engineering principles with practical problem-solving. This is a role for someone who's driven to make things work in the real world, not just on paper, and wants to grow into UAV hardware engineering from day one.

The day-to-day

  • Mechanical design: design mechanical components and systems for our UAV platforms using CAD
  • Rapid prototyping: build and iterate on parts using 3D printing, from concept to bench-tested prototype
  • Hands-on assembly: solder, assemble, and integrate mechanical and electronic components
  • Testing and iteration: test designs on the bench, identify failure points, and refine accordingly
  • Cross-disciplinary work: switch fluidly between design software and hands-on build work as the project demands

You should apply if you

  • Track record: you can show a project where you solved a real problem pragmatically, tell us what you built, why, and what you learned
  • CAD skills: you're proficient in CAD design
  • Hands-on experience: you have practical experience with 3D printing, soldering, and hands-on assembly
  • Curiosity: you're curious, practical, and eager to build, test, and iterate
  • Education: you hold a bachelor's degree or higher in mechanical engineering or a related field, with 0-2 years of experience
  • Eligibility: you're eligible to obtain a NATO security clearance

Nice to haves

  • Software depth: proficiency in SolidWorks
  • Drone experience: UAV piloting skills or experience with PX4 or other drone control stacks
  • Manufacturing knowledge: exposure to plastic injection molding and DFM/DFA principles
