Launch Technician - Instrumentation & Controls

$32 – $60 per hour

TLDR

Build and troubleshoot critical fluid, electronic, and structural systems at the Cape Canaveral Launch Site, supporting rapid launch operations and working alongside experienced engineers.

Reusable systems are the key to seamlessly connecting Earth and space. A key ingredient to making reusable systems is the ability to operate launch hardware quickly.

As an Launch Technician - Instrumentation and Controls working at our Cape Canaveral Launch Site, you will build fluid, electronic, and structural launch pad systems. You will prepare the launch pad for launch operations, troubleshoot launch operation issues, and support general launch operations.

You will fabricate parts and assemblies from blueprints, drawings, and verbal instructions using power tools, hand tools, and typical shop equipment. You will work directly with experienced design and launch engineers. Stay focused, move fast, self-direct, and learn on the fly.

Responsibilities
  • Safely operate various power tools, saws, and heavy-duty equipment.
  • Work closely with engineers for launch pad system maintenance and operations.
  • Support troubleshooting efforts for launch operations.
  • Safely work around hazardous chemicals and high-pressure systems.
  • Safely operate forklifts, telehandlers, and man lifts.
  • Perform everyday tasks to keep the site running (shipping/receiving, admin tasks).
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent certificate.
  • 3+ years of experience in wire harness and electrical connector fabrication.
  • Familiar with data acquisition systems.
  • Familiar with pressure transducers, thermocouples, accelerometers, and flow meters.
  • Familiar with reading and interpreting schematics and drawings.
  • Experience fabricating custom parts with little to no direction.
  • Possess skills necessary for troubleshooting wiring discrepancies.
  • Willing to work outdoors for long periods of time.
  • Able to stoop, bend, crawl, and lift up to 25 lbs. unassisted.
  • Passion for high-quality builds, a positive and humble attitude, and a drive to take ownership of tasks.
  • Rigorous attention to detail and strong multi-tasking skills.
  • Must be willing to travel flexibly based on fluctuating business demand and project pipelines.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience building up low voltage and data acquisition systems.
  • Experience building and troubleshooting camera systems.

Physical Requirements

  • Willing to work outdoors for long periods of time.
  • Able to stoop, bend, crawl, and lift up to 25 lbs. unassisted.

Compensation

Target Levels:

  • Level 2 Range: $32.11 - $48.16
  • Level 3 Range: $40.13 - $60.17

ITAR Requirements
