What you'll be doing
Lead, coach and develop a high-performing HVDC Operations & Maintenance team, driving a culture of safety, quality and continuous improvement.
Provide technical leadership and specialist expertise across existing and future HVDC assets.
Oversee the safe operation, inspection and maintenance of HVDC converter stations and associated plant in line with company standards and regulatory requirements.
Support the development, construction, commissioning and ongoing operation of new HVDC projects and interconnections.
Manage HVDC-related contracts, marine interfaces and stakeholder relationships to ensure effective delivery and value for money.
Coordinate outage planning and resource deployment to optimise network performance and asset availability.
Build strong working relationships with internal teams, joint venture partners and external stakeholders.
Drive operational excellence through performance monitoring, cost control and effective asset management.
Support trainee development and contribute to wider Transmission Operations objectives and regulatory commitments.
What you'll bring
Strong knowledge of transmission operations, maintenance practices and HVDC systems.
Experience with Protection & Control systems and transmission plant standards.
Sound understanding of health, safety and environmental legislation.
Strong leadership, coaching and people management skills.
Ability to manage complex technical challenges and deliver practical solutions.
Commercial awareness with experience managing contracts and external stakeholders.
Knowledge of SAP and asset management systems.
Excellent communication, planning and stakeholder engagement skills.
Senior Authorised Person status at transmission voltages (or equivalent experience).
Minimum Criteria
Degree, HND or HNC in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
Significant post-qualification experience within a power, utilities or transmission environment.
Proven experience operating and maintaining high-voltage transmission assets.
Demonstrable experience working with HVDC systems and technologies.
Proficient in Microsoft Office and asset management systems such as SAP.
