Lead Product Designer - Uswitch
At RVU we combine the close-knit and agile environment of a startup, with the know-how, technology and backing of a well-established company.
Our mission is to empower people to make confident decisions. With our unique set of brands, including Uswitch, Confused.com, Money.co.uk and Mojo, we have the power to reach millions of consumers and the technology to deliver a world class online experience for them.
As an organisation we do this through designing personalised, customer-centric product experiences that reduces pain points customers experience when changing providers. As a design community we are inclusive, we challenge convention, and we continuously innovate to deliver brand and product experiences that are widely recognised as market-leading.
What's the role?
Uswitch is the market-leading and most trusted brand that helps consumers understand more about their energy usage, safely navigate the current energy crisis and empower them to make confident decisions when switching to an energy provider that's most suited to their needs.
As a Lead Product Designer, your role is to lead the customer-centric strategy across the Uswitch energy team; driving customer journey and experience innovation. You’ll collaborate with our cross-functional teams (Customer Researchers, Product Designers, Visual Designers, Engineers and Product Managers) to continuously improve and enable our customers to make confident decisions.
You’ll be working through design problems from start to finish, translating insights from research and analytics into ideas that become new products and features, as well as designing detailed user journeys and interactions needed to make them viable.
What will I be doing?
- Validating and testing your ideas through sketching and creating prototypes, as well as creating high quality mockups
- Mentoring and collaborating with the wider design community to elevate our quality of excellence and continuously improve our design processes, principles, and fostering a strong culture of empowered ownership over the customer experience
- Working closely with the product managers and business stakeholders to understand and create future roadmaps
- Working closely with visual designers, engineers and analysts to iterate and build at a high quality, maintaining the Uswitch design system
- Line management of one direct report, and coaching internal product designers to unlock potential, expand on their expertise and model being a “Learn it all”
- Using your inquisitive mind to solve problems and challenges in order to develop simple and usable products. Working at a dynamic pace across multiple projects whilst ensuring high quality of your work
Requirements
- Strong all-round product design technical skills with an advanced understanding of designing consumer journeys and prototypes
- Excellent at communicating the design thinking and breadth of considerations behind your work
- Experience of designing across all digital touch points and devices (app, mobile, tablet and desktop).
- A collaborative working style, strong interpersonal skills and an ability to work well in small group settings as well as independently.
- Continually driving and enabling new ideas and new styles to aid the customer experience, in our product journeys and our marketing
- Passion for developing product designers (a habitual ‘learn it all’ not a ‘know it all’)
You don’t need to tick off everything on this list - so don’t let that hold you back from applying. We want to make sure you’re learning plenty during your time with us!
