The Kindness Foundation is a charity founded by Kurt Geiger, dedicated to giving young people, no matter their background, opportunities, support and the resources needed to enter the creative industry.
The Business By Design Academy will be our flagship programme for the Kindness Foundation which we aim to launch at the end of 2023.
Our aim and mission is to provide free resources, support, mentorship, webinars, events, work experience for underrepresented young people to enter the creative industries. The program will be accessible to all online and at our head office and through local physical activations.
In this role, you will be assisting the Learning and Programme Manager in leading the Business By Design flagship programme in its entirety including communications and operations working closely with the students, board of trustees and internal Kurt Geiger teams.
Students
- Prepare learning materials for students during the course of the programme
- Become the point of contact for students for their queries
- Maintain a good relationship with students
- Keep a record of student feedback for the learning and programme manager in order to adapt the programme
- Help with the building of an academy community with young people - e.g. social events and engagement
- Make sure all learning materials and resources are correct for the masterclass sessions and hand-on sessions
- Organise spaces for sessions and events for students
- Assist in organising and attending the welcome events and other social events for community building between the students and internal KG staff
- Assist in the designing and organising of the awards ceremony for students who complete the programme
Kurt Geiger Internal Staff
- Work with the Learning and Programme Manager to liaise with Internal Staff and work with the departments that will be participating in the programme
- Work with the Learning and Programme Manager to liaise with staff who will be conducting masterclass sessions
- Work with the Learning and Programme Manager and with internal staff who choose to be mentors for students
- Assist in working with internal departments to create industry sessions
- Assist in creating and attending networking events with internal staff and students
External Stakeholders
- Assist in liaising with and visiting Schools, Community Centres, Youth Clubs and our charity partners to enrol students into the programme and become the main point of contact
- Assist in maintain relationships with Schools, Community Centres, Youth Clubs and our charity partners with constant communication and updates on academy to secure stream of students to enter the programme
- Work with the Learning and Programme Manager to create presentations to deliver to external stakeholders, which include young people in schools and other institutions
Administration, Operations and Budget
- Keep a record of students, student feedback and other programme updates for the Learning and Programme Manager
- Make sure the student portal, website and other learning materials are up to date
- Ability to meet deadlines, think critically, maintain confidentiality, manage data and projects, work independently yet always ready to collaborate
- Ensure that the Business By Design space at HQ is always in perfect order, fully functional, readily available for the students, that nothing is misplaced or damaged.
Communications
- Assist in working with Marketing on creating campaigns to target young people to enter the programme
- Assist in working with the Youth Advisory Board on effective campaigns for young people
Requirements
- You are passionate about helping young people and creating social impact for young people from underrepresented backgrounds to have opportunities to enter the creative industry and you want to make a change in their lives
- You love interacting and working directly with young people (16 - 20 y/o)
- You will have experience in an administration role
- You are very organised and have good time management skills
- You are goal oriented - hitting targets and milestones on time
- You are familiar with Microsoft Office 365 and Google Drive
