Who are we as a legal team?

We are a fast-paced, adaptable and responsive legal team that is deeply embedded in the business. We have adapted the agile methodology to develop our own way of running things in a highly efficient and transparent manner, and we place a lot of value on teamwork. We’re constantly evolving and striving to be the best small legal team in the industry. We support all aspects of our global business, and some of the matters you can expect to be involved in include: 

  • Drafting and negotiating content distribution agreements, technology services agreements and other commercial contracts in support of our business goals
  • Streamlining self-serve business processes and drafting templates for our resource library
  • Advising on legal aspects of product development
  • Developing and implementing compliance and regulatory initiatives 
  • Working with great external counsel from around the world
  • Delivering professional training on key topics to our staff

 Who are we looking for?

We are looking for a commercial lawyer with a demonstrated ability to autonomously run a portfolio of matters. In particular, you’ll have: 

  • Four to seven years post qualification experience in a top tier firm (in-house experience is desirable but not essential)
  • Tertiary legal qualifications, and be eligible to hold a Victorian practising certificate
  • Experience or demonstrated understanding of some (or all) of the following:
  • Drafting and negotiating commercial contracts
  • Intellectual property laws and licensing, particularly copyright and trademarks
  • Privacy law and spam
  • Consumer protection law
  • Competition law
  • M&A transactions
  • Corporate governance

Experience in dealing with commercial legal matters in the tech industry will be highly regarded, but is not essential.

This position is open to candidates looking for a part-time (e.g three days full-time per week, or five days per week reduced hours) or full-time role.
