Legal Counsel - London

TrueLayer’s Legal team are the go-to experts for legal advice on all of TrueLayer’s commercial and business activities. We build relationships with functions across the business, and work as partners of all of TrueLayer’s teams to tackle and navigate the legal matters that TrueLayer may face as a fast scaling start-up.

We’re looking for a proactive Legal Counsel (to join our small, but impactful Legal team of 3) who is comfortable in a fast-paced environment and who thrives in complexity. This person will be crucial in our growth as we continue on our journey to push Open Banking and financial technology forward.

What you will do:

• Review and advise on contracts, licences, and other agreements with our customers, suppliers and other third parties
• Work with other teams within TrueLayer including Product, Sales, Marketing, Engineering and Compliance to advise on data protection, commercial contracts, information security and intellectual property
• Advise on legal issues and risks, complex agreement structures and company policies
• Ensure that legal best practices are applied across new and existing processes, contracts, and workflows throughout the business
• Consult, draft and negotiate on a wide range of commercial agreements and maintain templates in line with company policies and local law
• Manage and develop relationships with external counsel whenever required

Requirements

We’re looking for someone who:

• Has 3-6 years’ PQE
• Has strong corporate and/or commercial law background with proven negotiation skills
• Is able to work independently, think big, but execute on a granular level
• Is able to communicate complex matters, in simple terms
• Can exercise sound judgement to further and protect TrueLayer’s business interests

Nice to haves:

• In-house experience in a fast paced technology or finance services business
• Has trained at a leading law firm, if you’ve started your career in private practice
• Previous experience working with a product launch in a new country
