The vast majority of the world’s payment system is based on credit cards. Xfers’ mission is to build an Internet Banking Payments API layer across Southeast Asia to facilitate trade across the region, so that the overall economy in the region can thrive and be seen as a cohesive economic region.
A big part of the mission is to grow the number of users who use and trust the product. Building this trust requires compliance with the local laws and regulations, and that's where you'll come in.
You will report to the Chief Legal Officer to assist in providing legal counsel and support to Xfers' businesses in Singapore and Indonesia.
What you may work on
- Legal research on applicable laws and regulations - Payment Services Act for online payments, funds transfers, remittance, Stored Value Facilities, Personal Data Protection Act, employment, and more
- Legal research for entry into foreign markets and licensing requirements
- Formulating action plans and recommendations based on the research
- Contract drafting and proof-reading
- Reviewing and updating internal policies and procedures
- Reviewing marketing and sales materials to ensure compliance with regulations and policies
- Preparing internal training materials for non-legal staff
Who we are looking for
- A minimum of 2-3 months commitment
- Law undergraduate Year 2 & above OR LLM students preferred
- Excellent written English communication skills
- Strong corporate & commercial mindset
- Strong analytical skills
- High proficiency in Microsoft Office Word (use of Styles, multi-numbered lists, paragraph spacings, etc)
- Proficient in Google Docs & Slides
- Able to work independently
