Lodge Maintenance Manager

The lodge also hosts its very own spa, encapsulating the epitome of a luxurious safari experience.

We are looking for a skilled and energetic Maintenance Manager with at least 5 years of experience in the hospitality environment. You will oversee the functioning of Silvan’s main lodge, workshop, staff accommodation and vehicles, working with a small team of dedicated maintenance staff.

Your specific responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to:

• Managing the maintenance department and its team, including staff training
• Controlling departmental budget and managing suppliers & deliveries
• Monitoring all lodge equipment to ensure productivity and safety
• Overseeing all lodge facilities and maintaining building systems (heating, ventilation etc.)
• Inspecting facilities periodically to determine problems and necessary maintenance
• Monitoring inventory of materials and equipment
• Participating in coordinaton of projects (e.g. renovations)
• Ensuring adherence to quality standards and health and safety regulations
• Hiring and supervising tradesmen during installations, repairs or maintenance (electricians, plumbers etc.)
• Providing assistance on additional ad-hoc duties, as assigned by management

Requirements

You must possess:

• A minimum of 5 years of experience running maintenance management in the fields of: water reticulation; boreholes & sewage systems (Biorock); generator electrical systems; general electrics, including air conditioning; plumbing; solar systems; vehicle maintenance and fleet management; carpentry; gas systems – geysers, stoves, braais, etc.

• Knowledge of safety standards, rules and regulations
• A driver's licence
• General computer knowledge and good administrative skills

• Preference will be given to previously disadvantaged South African candidates
• Silvan Safari Lodge is located in Mpumalanga and distant applicants will be required to relocate at their own expense
• The screening procedure for this role will include an on-site practical assessment
