Maintenance Technician (Full-Time)

 Position Summary:

Obera is hiring a full-time Maintenance Technician to support maintenance services which include depot level marine maintenance and repair services for NSWG-3 owned and operated Surface Support Crafts (SSC), Jet Skis, outboard motors (OBM), sponsors, and boat trailers.  Position location Virginia Beach, VA, and requires Travel.  THIS POSITION IS CONTINGENT UPON AWARD.


Responsibilities:

  • The Maintenance Technician is required to perform scheduled maintenance in accordance with government scheduling and interim repairs as required to maintain safe and reliable equipment support with an equipment availability of 90% or greater.
  • Conduct scheduled maintenance in three specific levels identified as calendar based periodicity, hourly based periodicity, and situational requirement based periodicity in accordance with 3M Program requirements and OEM recommendations.
  • The Maintenance Technician shall make all repairs in accordance with OEM specifications referenced in technical manuals or maintenance procedure updates.
  • Conduct Equipment standard safety inspections at each scheduled maintenance service and after completion or repair work.
  • Service and change oils and standard service items in accordance with 3M Program requirements and OEM recommendations.
  • Accomplish completion of all unscheduled repairs in accordance with OEM specifications.
  • Marine technicians shall use OEM manuals and electronic files to request repair parts from the government supply technicians and identify service requirements which need to be performed at the dealership/manufacturer level. The goal is 90% accuracy on initial assessments and 98% on secondary submittals.
  • Marine technicians shall complete documentation necessary to account for maintenance time, repair parts ordered and installed, and record maintenance and repair functions as prescribed to perform scheduled maintenance and interim repairs. Maintenance data shall be entered into maintenance software programs (OMMS-NG and SKED).
  • Marine Technician shall conduct field service maintenance and repairs as required supporting remote equipment sites at Key West, FL, and Panama City, FL.
  • Marine Technician will ensure proper handling of Hazardous Materials in accordance with Local, State, Federal, and DOD directives, laws, and regulations.

 Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum Two years’ experience conducting repair/maintenance of outboard engines.
  • Minimum Two years’ experience conducting repair/maintenance of Jetskis.
  • Minimum Two years’ experience conducting repair/maintenance of other various craft and ancillary equipment listed: Silverships AMBAR 1100 with Evinrude E-TEC 250HP outboard engines, Silverships AMBAR 800 with Evinrude E-TEC 200HP outboard motors, WorkSkiff 800 with Evinrude E-TEC 250HP H.O. outboard motors, Boat trailers (Loadmaster, E-Z Loader, Boatmaster, MYCO, Spectrum), Evinrude E-TEC 200-250HP GEN II outboard engines, Evinrude E-TEC 30-90HP Multi Fuel Engine (MFE) and Enforcer outboard engines, Wing and Zodiac Sponsons, Furuno NAVNET3D Multi-Function Displays (MFD) and associated equipment (RADAR/GPS), Various other basic marine craft equipage, Wing Sponsons.
  • Possess Bombardier Recreational (BRP) OEM Outboard Motor maintenance and repair technician certification and Yamaha Marine Rescue Vehicle (MRV) maintenance and repair technician certification or industry equivalent training and/or certification, such as that which can be received from Marine Mechanics Institute.
  • Possess Outboard II (OB2) Mechanics certification.
  • Possess a valid state driver’s license to operate motor vehicles.
  • Be a US Citizen
  • Possesses a current SECRET security clearance.
