Manager, Social Media

TLDR

Lead the growth of CPP Investments' social media presence through strategic content creation and engagement across multiple platforms, including emerging channels like TikTok.

At CPP Investments, social media plays a key role in how we share our purpose. It helps us articulate our global investment strategy, convey our institutional professionalism, and connect with audiences around the world through thoughtful, transparent storytelling.

The Manager, Social Media is a strategic, creative individual who thrives on connection — someone who can turn complex ideas into engaging content and has a passion for purpose-driven, video-led storytelling. This role requires strong content creation skills, particularly in producing short-form video, visual content and platform-native storytelling. You’ll also play a strategic role in guiding our approach and advising senior stakeholders on best practices and potential risks.

You’ll bring deep experience across platforms like LinkedIn, Instagram and X/Twitter, a sharp eye for what works online, and comfort with emerging platforms such as TikTok. Based in Toronto, you’ll collaborate with a global team across London, New York and Hong Kong.

Team Description

Corporate Affairs shapes and shares our brand story by protecting our reputation and promoting thought leadership across internal platforms and external touchpoints like social media and our website. We use digital communication to build trust, engage stakeholders, and keep our global teams informed and inspired.

Accountabilities:

  • Manage and grow CPP Investments’ organic social media presence, primarily LinkedIn, X/Twitter and Instagram, with oversight of YouTube and Facebook.
  • Evaluate and recommend new and emerging platforms — including TikTok — to ensure our strategy evolves with digital trends.
  • Lead the creation and publication of engaging, multimedia social content — especially short-form video — tailored to each platform and optimized for audience engagement. Ensure content reinforces the organization’s role as a global, professional institutional investor.
  • Produce and edit video, photographic content, and copy in support of campaigns and real-time moments.
  • Collaborate with the editorial team to ensure social content aligns with CPP Investments’ content strategy, mission and mandate. Support content that advances our thought leadership and reinforces our reputation for rigor and integrity.
  • Monitor platform trends, audience sentiment, and reputational risks, and provide real-time social listening reports and analysis for senior executives.
  • Act as a community manager as needed — responding to feedback, managing interactions, and elevating community sentiment.
  • Analyze and report on social media performance, drawing insights to inform content decisions and demonstrate impact.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience managing and growing organic social media for a brand or organization.
  • Proven experience as a content creator — especially short-form video and visual storytelling — across platforms.
  • Proficiency in tools such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Photoshop, and Canva; familiarity with social platforms’ native editing tools (e.g., Instagram Reels, CapCut).
  • Experience with social media management and monitoring tools (e.g., Hootsuite, Meltwater, Sprout Social).
  • Strong analytical skills and experience using data to guide strategy and communicate with stakeholders.
  • Experience in crisis communications or managing sensitive issues is a strong asset.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to distill complex ideas for a broad audience.
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced environment and adaptable to shifting priorities.
