Lead the end-to-end editorial strategy, execution, and performance of high-impact personal finance content across digital platforms.
- Own the editorial calendar and content strategy, ensuring alignment with audience needs, SEO/GEO trends, and brand authority standards
- Commission, edit, and manage content produced by freelancers, journalists, and financial experts (e.g., CFPs, tax professionals)
- Produce and oversee data-driven financial journalism using Canadian public datasets and proprietary financial insights
- Lead rapid-response editorial coverage of major financial events, ensuring timely, expert-led analysis
- Optimize cornerstone content and “best of” guides to maintain accuracy, competitiveness, and search performance
- Monitor audience analytics (Google Analytics, SEMrush, etc.) to inform editorial planning and content optimization
- Guide distribution strategies across newsletters, social media, and digital platforms to maximize engagement and retention
- Collaborate with product, engineering, and commercial teams to develop interactive content experiences while safeguarding editorial independence
- Deep understanding of the Canadian financial landscape, including mortgages, investing, taxes, and banking
- Proven experience leading end-to-end editorial operations, from strategy and commissioning to publishing and performance analysis
- Strong track record managing freelance contributors and subject-matter experts
- Expertise in SEO and familiarity with GEO, with the ability to translate search data into editorial strategy
- Experience with newsletter platforms and audience engagement strategies to build direct reader relationships
- Strong data journalism skills, including interpreting public datasets (e.g., StatsCan, CMHC, Bank of Canada)
- Exceptional editing ability with strong attention to accuracy, clarity, and editorial consistency
- Proficiency with CMS platforms (e.g., WordPress), SEO tools (e.g., SEMrush), and analytics platforms (e.g., Google Analytics)
- Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- Strong understanding of AI-assisted editorial workflows is considered an asset
- Financial certifications (e.g., CFP, QAFP, CSC) or financial services background are a plus
- Competitive salary range: $100,000 – $150,000 CAD based on experience
