Manufacturing Engineer – PFMEA Coordinator
Job Description
This position will report to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager. The main focus will be to help develop manufacturing conveyor systems for mainline vehicle assembly. The individual should be knowledgeable in manufacturing process quality, PFMEA and AIAG methods or possess a strong desire to become an expert in this field. The role will also help establish and compose documents for Quality and Control plans to help ensure a quality process. This is a unique position in a vehicle start-up role that will help develop methods for vehicle manufacturing.
Responsibilities:
· Directly responsible to develop PFMEA documents and process for all new manufacturing projects and vehicle model introductions.
· Work directly with Process and Manufacturing Engineers to drive the PFMEA process for a new products or vehicle manufacturing lines.
· Assures proper implementation of quality control methodology throughout the vehicle manufacturing process, utilizing SPC, Six Sigma, and Lean Manufacturing principles
· Communicates PFMEA requirements to Process ME staff and coordinates implementation of countermeasure or control plans as required.
· Participate in design reviews and DFM process with Vehicle product design engineers and HQ office to drive “Built-in” quality philosophy.
· Develops timing plan to report progress and track PFMEA process to meet project and manufacturing timing plan.
· Establish implementation of process capability analysis, common quality control systems and manufacturing quality best practices, such as defect and variation detection and reduction
· Effective problem solver with knowledge and experience utilizing structured problem solving methodology and experience implementing Layered Process Audits to drive final product customer satisfaction.
· Utilize effective software and engineering tools to analyze quality data, defect occurrence, drive continuous improvement, conduct warranty data analysis, and create process quality assurance plans.
Desired Skills & Experience:
· 2-4 Years of Experience with Manufacturing, Quality, or other related Automotive engineering
· Experience with PFMEA process, structured problem solving, AIAG standards and tools
· Experience in interaction of complex manufacturing process and methods, Vehicle Assembly experience a plus.
· Experience working with cross-functional manufacturing teams.
· Experience desired with establishing quality control plans, layered process audits, and/or PFMEA systems.
· Knowledge of Six Sigma, GD&T, SPC, DMAIC, Lean Manufacturing and utilization of PFMEA tools
· Working knowledge of ISO 9001, ASQ, or SSBB, desirable but not required
· Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills (written & oral) to work effectively with all levels of the organization, including highly motivated and driven cross functional leadership teams.
· Highly developed and demonstrated ability to tackle and solve complex manufacturing problems and implement irreversible corrective actions.
· Experience with a 24hour day/365 days a year high pressure intense manufacturing environment – during launch periods.
· Willing to work any shift in addition to daily and weekend overtime when needed.
