Media Relations Returnship/Internship

About Intero Digital Content & PR Division

The Content & PR Division at Intero Digital (formerly Influence & Co.) makes content marketing simple by providing a full-service solution to help companies strategize, create, publish, and distribute content that accomplishes their goals. Our industry and organization have a troubling lack of diversity. If you look at a screenshot of a company wide Zoom call, you’ll see a lot of young, white-passing faces. We acknowledge the lack of diversity in our organization is a problem and are committed to implementing changes intended to recruit, develop, and retain the most talented people from a diverse candidate pool.

The Intero Digital Content & PR Division 10-week returnship/internship program is intended to create a pathway for individuals wanting to enter or reenter the workforce and gain hands-on content marketing experience.

About You

You are curious. You are a learner and enjoy researching, brainstorming, and sharing ideas. You are someone who gets lost in a project because you found so many interesting stories, facts, and figures about the subject.

You are interested in learning more about content marketing and media relations. You want to build a foundational understanding of content marketing, PR, and the content creation process proven to deliver measurable business results for brands and organizations.

You thrive in an autonomous yet supportive environment. You are self-motivated and organized. You consider yourself to be adaptable and thorough. You are comfortable taking the lead on tasks you’ve been trained on from start to finish, or jumping in to provide support on an as-needed basis. You take ownership over your responsibilities and view asking for help as a sign of strength and self-awareness.

You are a strong communicator. You have ideas and a desire for them to be heard. You are an active listener and understand the importance of clear and concise communication. You aren’t intimidated by client calls or working with members of various departments in a fully remote environment.

You’re committed to crossing items off your to-do list. You are detail-oriented and can manage time effectively. You are a flexible individual who doesn’t buckle under pressure. You have a strong ability to prioritize and ensure you are focusing on the appropriate tasks and deadlines.

About the Position

We mention being curious from the beginning because this role involves a lot of research. We’re always gathering information on content ideas, new clients, new industries, and new trends, and this role plays a big part in that process. You’ll gain hands-on experience working directly with our media relations team and their clients. Our media relations team consists of publication strategists and PR strategists, so you’ll have the opportunity to see earned media strategy from multiple perspectives. You’ll assist with the distribution of content to online publications, ideation of pitch ideas for clients, and execution of pitch campaigns to journalists.

This is a mutually beneficial relationship that we place a tremendous amount of value on. We view this program as a way to provide individuals with the opportunity, resources, and skill set needed to pursue a career in content marketing, whether that be with Intero Digital or another agency. Additionally, this program is an opportunity for you to vet Intero Digital as a potential future employer.

We know you may be coming to us with little to no content marketing experience. We’re more focused on the attributes mentioned above than having ‘PR’ written on your resume. So if what you’re reading in this description interests you at all, we encourage you to apply and want to provide some specific tips for the interview process:

  • Take a look at our website and learn what you can about us
  • Take a look at our blog to learn more about content marketing
  • Come prepared with questions about who we are, what we do, and the role itself
  • Think about your ‘why?’. Why is this role attractive to you? How does it fit into your future career goals? We aren’t expecting you to leave and breath content marketing, but we want to know how this opportunity might propel you forward.
