Network Engineer

About the role

DoorDash is looking to hire a very savvy network engineer who can help to redesign all of our corporate networking infrastructure and set us up for success to grow and scale our business 10X.  This will be a very collaborative and influential role working with our Security Team, AV Team, IT and Engineering Teams on a number of concurrent projects. This will be a very hands-on and highly visible role so this network engineer must have exceptional communication skills and an entrepreneurial mind set to help drive the business and share your knowledge.

This role is based in San Francisco, CA and will report to the Corporate Technology Manager.

What you will do

Automate, scale, design and inform.  You will hit the ground running and we will rely heavily on your recommendations for all of our corporate networking infrastructure.  We are 100% Cisco Meraki at the moment so understanding large Meraki deployments are a must, however you will have complete autonomy to redesign and build a world-class global network.  You will be the technical lead in designing network solutions that will adhere to current industry standards as well as audit and compliance standards. You will have visibility across all of Engineering and make a direct impact on the entire business. 

Qualifications

• You possess a high level of integrity and can work independently and under tight project schedules as well as strong interpersonal communication and reporting skills
• Know everything there is to know about Meraki at scale
• You have core OSI methodology skills for troubleshooting and analysis and strong knowledge of TCP/IP fundamentals 
• 5  years of demonstrated success building multi-tier, large-scale enterprise or service provider networks
• Advanced knowledge of networking protocols (BGP, OSPF, Spanning-Tree, HSRP/VRRP/GLBP, IPv6, 802.1X).
• Knowledge of Firewall and IPS administration (Meraki MX Series, Palo Alto Firewalls)
• Ability to build high density wireless networks that work consistently and flawlessly
• Advanced knowledge of VPN technologies (IPSEC, SSL) administration and configuration.
• Deep and substantial configuration experience with routing and switching devices (Cisco/Juniper)
• Relevant experience with network management tools and utilities (Nagios, Cacti,Wireshark, etc.) to ensure that network availability is monitored, managed and operated per SLAs
• Experience in designing network solutions that adhere to well-known audit and compliance standards by establishing and implementing best practices and standards across the global network
• Ability to install, configure, and troubleshoot network hardware (firewalls, switches, waps and routers)
• Act as a technical escalation point and provide support for network related issues and requests, perform peer review on other team members work and strong documentation skills following compliance best practices
• Provide documented solutions, including build and maintenance plans
• Continuous development and improvement of network policies and procedures and ensuring they are put into practice and followed by the team and end users
• Strong scripting skills, Python or Perl

Nice To Haves

• Experience building and successfully implementing a BeyondCorp environment
• Successful experience configuring and deploying 802.1X 
• Cisco certificate CCNA/CCNP/CCIE or equivalent preferred
