Network Engineer

Summary

As a Network Implementation Engineer you will join a dynamic team of individuals who are committed to the successful and timely implementation of emerging technologies, as well as improving corporate capacity and throughput. The implementation team is involved in infrastructure deployments across network, server and storage technologies. Through your involvement with IT Engineering, Facilities, Telco and cabling contractors, you are tasked with taking Engineering designs and deploying them into production. The implementation team is a well connected global team supporting the US, EMEA and APAC regions.

What you’ll do

• Install, test, and maintain network servers, operating system software, hubs, routers, switches, cabling, and other related network components/equipment in accordance with published standards
• Respond to emergency work requests, troubleshoot network failures and errors, and diagnose, isolate, and resolve routine to moderately/highly complex network-related problems ensuring timely results and minimal disruption of operations
• Assist the Senior Network Engineers with developing, monitoring, and implementing network security procedures for safeguarding all networking systems
• Perform facility surveys for network communications and make recommendations for the layout and location of network components, equipment, cabling, and wiring
• Assist with developing pricing schemes with vendors for network components, equipment, cabling, and wiring for new implementations or upgrades
• Maintain records of work completed and in-progress and update network documentation to record installations, upgrades, configurations, etc.
• Manage relationships with vendors and partners
• Interact with other Technology teams regarding new application deployments and service installations
• Assist/support other network related tasks/requirements as directed by management

What’s required

• An Associate’s degree (or completion of equivalent amount of college coursework) in a related field
• 2+ years of related experience in computer network support and maintenance
• 2+ years of experience with installation, testing, and maintenance of local and wide area computer wired and wireless networks (Cisco Systems preferred)
• Knowledge of computer network characteristics, network operating system software, and network components (i.e.: network servers, switches, hubs, routers, bridges, cabling, etc.)
• Troubleshooting skills and the ability to diagnose/resolve network system problems
• Ability to interpret and apply complex technical manuals and reference materials
• Project management experience
• Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
