Newsletter Writer/Content Developer
TLDR
Create engaging civic-focused newsletters and related content, researching, interviewing, and collaborating with editors to inform voters and raise awareness.
- Write engaging content for internal and external newsletters focused on civic engagement, voter education, and organizational updates.
- Develop blog articles and news stories covering topics such as voting rights, election updates, and civic participation.
- Research and conduct interviews for volunteer spotlights, event coverage, and election-related reporting.
- Pitch story ideas and collaborate with editors on assigned editorial topics.
- Support content planning and contribute to storytelling strategies aligned with mission goals.
- Ensure all written content is clear, accurate, and aligned with editorial standards and tone.
- Participate in team collaboration sessions and editorial meetings (including weekly check-ins).
- Help translate complex civic and election-related topics into accessible, engaging content for a broad audience.
- Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills with journalism experience or clips to demonstrate work.
- Current journalism student, recent graduate, or freelance writer with relevant experience.
- Familiarity with WordPress or similar content management systems.
- Ability to research topics thoroughly and conduct interviews when needed.
- Interest in civic engagement, elections, political reporting, or nonprofit communications.
- Ability to work independently in a remote, volunteer-based environment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate, high-quality content.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills for working with distributed teams.
