Nurse Clinic Manager

TLDR

Leads clinic operations and coordinates with providers to ensure safe, high-quality patient care and efficient workflow.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:           

The Nurse Clinic Manager (NCM) is key in ensuring clinic flow serving as a bridge between provider needs and clinical resources. The NCM is responsible for the oversight and delivery of safe, highest quality patient care and services to patients and families of the Clinic.  The NCM, along with the Physician in Charge and management team, plans, directs, coordinates and evaluates clinic activites that support the mission and goals of the clinic.  The NCM position requires expert nursing skills, leadership qualities and communication technique. The NCM works closely with providers to meet provider needs in the clinic. The NCM reports to the Physician in Charge for all responsibilities, which include but are not limited to clinical quality, service quality and service delivery.

 SPECIFIC DUTIES:

  1. Provides leadership, support and education to support staff; supervisory responsibilities include, but not limited to, interviewing/hiring staff, evaluating staff, and scheduling of staff.
  2. Provides leadership for the development of policies and procedures designed to guide the Clinic’s activities, ensuring that the Clinic consistently operates in a high quality manner.  Contribute to developing policies and procedures for the entire health center.
  3. Works with Clinic employees to ensure that each employee understands his/her job description; the desired results associated with his/her work, and the resources available to achieve the results.  
  4. Organizes periodic support staff meetings.
  5. Provides daily direction for clinic flow and patient care.
  6. Handles weekly timesheets and scheduling.
  7. Insure timely and accurate billing of medical services, posting of collections, and follow up on fees that were not collected on day of service.
  8. Managing a petty cash drawer
  9. Order supplies such as drapes, table paper, staples, soaps, towels, medication samples, emergency crash-cart supplies
  10. Oversee communication and coordination with specialty offices when transportation, appointment set-up assistance and information exchange is required.
  11. Assists reception staff with check in check out, reception duties and appointment set up and reminders.
  12. Upholds the mission of Covenant Community Care to show and share the love of God, as seen in the good news of Jesus Christ, by providing integrated, affordable and quality health care to those who need it most.
  13. Renders first aid as necessary.
  14. Provides back up assistance to medical team to administer injections, draw blood, and take lab specimens as necessary.
  15. Provides consistent weekly communication to the PIC, ensuring that information, reports, and materials are provided, to clearly describing clinic activities and progress toward agreed upon objectives.
  16. Ensures the Clinic engages in activities designed to improve the quality of its services.  Participate in Health Center-wide quality improvement activities.
  17. Ensures compliance with standards, laws, and regulations as directed by regulatory and accrediting organizations such as: BPHC, JCAHO, CLIA, OSHA, State and Federal Governments, etc.
  18. Adheres to the Policies and Procedures, standards for service delivery and Code of Ethics established by Covenant Community Care, Inc.
  19. Serves on Covenant Community Care committees, working groups, and other bodies as assigned.
  20. Performs other duties as assigned by the PIC.

 KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  1. Demonstrates technical proficiency, critical thinking skills and ability to share skills and evaluate nursing skills of subordinate.
  2. Excellent communication skills; create, integrate and implement change and improvements.
  3. Ability to work independently, creative problem-solving.
  4. Experience and demonstrated abilities for working in a multi-cultural setting.
  5. A strong working knowledge of the clinical delivery of nursing services, specifically, the ability to triage and manage patient needs and direct others in their care.
  6. Ability to learn and use new technology to improve clinical flow such as computer tracking.
  7. Computer skills needed to manage weekly duties such as scheduling, Microsoft Excel, managing and training staff on all other clinical systems and clinical databases.
  8. Ability to function effectively as part of a professional team delivering healthcare in a community setting.
  9. Knowledge of, and ability to adhere to, professional code of ethics.
  10. Flexibility in days and hours available for scheduled work.
  11. Ability to collaborate and interact with a diverse group of health care professionals.
  12. Excellent customer service skills.
  13. Ability to organize and prioritize work appropriately

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Associates Degree in Nursing, or Diploma in Nursing required
  2. 2-5 years of management required
  3. Active, valid State of Michigan Registered Nurse licensure required
