Operations Manager
Primary Venture Partners is looking for an Operations Manager to join its team, reporting into the Chief of Staff.
Primary is a seed-stage venture capital firm dedicated to delivering exceptional support to the founders of transformational businesses in NYC. The Ops Manager will work hand-in-hand with the Chief of Staff, our Partners and other cross-functional team members to drive key firm priorities and special projects aimed at boosting employee engagement, shaping culture and unlocking organizational efficiencies at a pivotal point in Primary’s growth.
The ideal candidate is an entrepreneurial generalist with high emotional intelligence and a knack for problem-solving who thrives in ambiguity and enjoys operating as a utility player.
About the role - specific responsibilities will include (but are not limited to) the following:
- Manage special projects as they arise, with an eye to supporting our team of Partners and the Chief of Staff
- Support firm-wide operations, including strategic planning and KPI/OKR process management as well as the management of our operating cadence, including recurring meetings
- Support the implementation of our HR strategy to continue to level up all aspects of the employee experience at Primary, including DEI, L&D (learning and development) and performance management
- Track employee engagement and drive the implementation of employee engagement survey insights across the firm
- Own the employee onboarding process end-to-end and support hiring efforts across the firm as needed
- Enable internal communication and team events, including the content and logistics of our monthly all-hands meetings and quarterly offsites as well as other culture-building initiatives
- Create, update and enforce HR policies, e.g. on employee safety and wellbeing initiatives
- Lead HR compliance, including monitoring of state and local regulations, updating our employee handbook, and running anti-discrimination/anti-harassment trainings once relevant
About you:
- Must be available to work full-time in NYC
- Has prior experience managing and influencing multiple executive stakeholders, excellent at managing up and following through
- Detail-oriented and exceptionally organized, with strong project management chops and confidence handling multiple work-streams simultaneously and prioritizing effectively
- Self-starting, solution-orientated and thrives in a fast-paced, autonomous, scrappy environment with a lot of moving parts
- Excellent verbal, written, and visual communication skills
- Outstanding interpersonal skills; polite and tactful and able to maintain composure under pressure
- Sound judgment, a high degree of professionalism, and the ability to maintain confidentiality
- Bonus points for startup operating experience
Compensation is market competitive and will include upside in our fund and SPVs.
