Operations Support Specialist

TLDR

Support student enrollment and graduation processes while collaborating with various stakeholders to ensure academic success and compliance with state regulations.

 

About the Team

The Virtual Preparatory Academy of Georgia is a K-10 tuition-free online public school.  At VPA Georgia, we empower students to be their best by enabling them to learn in ways that are right for them – using innovative technology at home, at their proper level, and at their own pace.

The Principal is responsible for the development, implementation and achievement of the school’s academic vision, student advancement and daily operations. The Principal will ensure successful academic outcomes for all students while employing long-term instructional sustainability measures involving professional development, teacher quality assessment, curriculum and pedagogical advancement. Please note – while this is an online school position and all instruction occurs virtually, travel and face to face attendance will be required several times per year to support in person state testing and student events.

About the Opportunity

  • Assist with scheduling of new students into Homeroom/Advisory, Orientation, and other course selections
  • Assist with state testing coordination and support Operations Manager with scheduling, communications, and other testing related duties
  • Responsible for monitoring graduation cohorts and taking necessary steps to remove students from cohort as designated by State Accountability office
  • Partner with Attendance Specialist and Operations Manager to ensure truancy is filed on students that have been withdrawn after supportive and preventative measures were taken. This includes making the necessary referrals/reports as designated by GA state code and/or school policy
  • Partner with School Registrar to obtain high school transcripts in a timely manner
  • Partner with Principal and Guidance Counselors to ensure transcripts and graduation plans are accurate and entered in a timely manner
  • Responsible for tracking and reporting data as directed by Supervisor
  • Coordinate contact changes in the student information system
  • Assist Operations Manager with office/facilities management
  • Assists with other operational functions such as mailings, collection/tracking of information, data entry, special projects, professional development
  • Perform other duties as assigned

About You

  • Establish and maintain a positive rapport with students, parents, staff, school and district administration, and other stakeholders
  • Utilize effective time management and ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks to meet deadlines consistently
  • Ability to work independently while also contributing to the team
  • Ability to handle confidential information responsibly and exhibit sound judgement
  • Ability to successfully work within the Microsoft Office suite of programs and willingness to learn
  • Previous school office/registrar experience a plus
  • Previous Power School experience a plus
  • Ability to work independently and contribute to a team
  • Ability to pass federal and state criminal background checks
