Orderly

The Orderly at Bayview Hospital plays a vital role in supporting the patient care team by assisting patients with mobility and daily care needs, ensuring their safety, comfort, and dignity throughout their stay.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Assist patients with mobility, transfers, feeding, hygiene, and general daily care
• Safely transport patients within the hospital, including pre- and post-operative movement
• Maintain cleanliness by changing linens and cleaning/sterilizing equipment and patient areas
• Support the Operating Theatre with patient handling, equipment movement, and cleaning procedures
• Transport specimens, blood products, meals, and supplies throughout the hospital
• Monitor and manage oxygen cylinders and assist with basic equipment checks
• Collect and dispose of clinical waste in accordance with safety procedures
• Restock medical supplies and assist with general ward and theatre support tasks
• Report equipment issues and ensure safe handling of hospital resources
• Carry out any additional duties as required within the role scope

Key Skills & Requirements: 

• Minimum of to CXC subjects 
• Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) 
• Computer proficiency 
• Ability to clean, sanitize, and safely dispose of biological waste 
• Strong patient-handling skills with focus on safety and comfort
• Strong interpersonal skills with a caring and professional attitude
