We’re looking for a People Operations Associate to help shape and scale the employee experience at Whatnot. This role goes beyond keeping things running — you’ll improve the systems, processes, and operational workflows that support our team as we grow.
This role is focused on onboarding operations and employee lifecycle support, with onboarding as an initial area of ownership. You’ll ensure new hires have a seamless, compliant, and high-quality onboarding experience while supporting broader People Ops processes, systems, and employee support workflows.
You’ll partner cross-functionally with Recruiting, IT, Finance, Total Rewards, Legal, and People Business Partners to deliver an exceptional employee experience and maintain operational excellence across the employee lifecycle. If you enjoy turning manual processes into scalable solutions, solving operational challenges, and improving how teams work, you’ll thrive here.
Team members in this role must be within commuting distance of our San Francisco hub.
💻 What You’ll Do
Own onboarding operations. Manage onboarding workflows from offer acceptance through Day 1, including onboarding communications, Workday transactions, I-9 compliance, onboarding tasks, and cross-functional coordination with Recruiting and IT.
Support onboarding experiences at our San Francisco hub. Partner with Talent Programs and cross-functional teams to help deliver a seamless onboarding experience for new hires.
Manage employee lifecycle operations. Process and support job changes, promotions, compensation updates, departures, and other employee lifecycle transactions while ensuring data accuracy.
Maintain data integrity and audit readiness. Ensure Workday data is accurate, complete, and compliant through regular audits, reporting, and process reviews.
Build scalable operational processes. Identify opportunities to improve onboarding, employee lifecycle workflows, and self-service resources to increase efficiency and reduce manual work.
Improve the People Ops helpdesk. Respond to Tier 1 and Tier 2 employee questions, identify trends, and enhance documentation and self-service resources.
Partner on cross-functional People Ops initiatives. Support projects across onboarding, systems, reporting, compliance, and employee experience as the company scales.
Leverage reporting and analytics. Utilize Workday reporting and operational metrics to identify issues, improve processes, and support decision-making.
Support the broader People Ops team. Share knowledge, document processes, and provide coverage across operational workflows as needed.
👋 You

Have 3–5+ years of experience in People/HR Operations, or a similar role, ideally in a fast-growing environment.
Are a Workday power user, comfortable processing transactions, running reports, troubleshooting issues, and maintaining data accuracy.
Have experience supporting onboarding operations and employee lifecycle processes.
Think in systems and enjoy improving processes.
Are comfortable operating with autonomy and managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Are organized, proactive, and detail-oriented.
Communicate clearly and thoughtfully across teams.
Take ownership and follow through.
Are familiar with tools like Google Workspace, Slack, Zendesk, Culture Amp, Navan, and Slab or Notion, and pick up new tools quickly.
Care deeply about creating a great experience for every Whatnaut.
