Pool & Beach Supervisor
JOB SUMMARY
The Pool & Beach Supervisor is responsible for supervising and administering activities by all pool & beach areas in order to ensure that quality programs and services are delivered to the Hotel’s guests, in accordance with the company’s standards, AAA 5 diamond standards and LQA Benchmarking standards.
SCOPE
The Pool & Beach Supervisor reports to the Guest Services Manager and/or Pool & Beach Manager and is responsible for the supervision and administration of all pool and beach programs. This includes completing administrative responsibilities, scheduling activities and supervising pool and beach staff.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- To regularly inspect all areas assigned to the Pool & Beach team which includes but is not limited to the pool, beach and decks to ensure that cleanliness is maintained in accordance with the company’s standards, AAA 5 diamond standards and LQA Benchmarking standards.
- Be knowledgeable with the operations, handling and care of items, equipment and areas under the responsibility of the Watersports department, inspecting them regularly to ensure they are operational and functions within the health and safety standards.
- Ensure that the pools are treated and maintained by team members as per the standard operating procedures.
- To conduct monthly inventory to ensure adequate supply of amenities are replenished to maintain a high guests satisfactory rate, contacting suppliers to order stock when par levels are reached and ensuring cheques are provided before a shortage arises.
- To review platforms such as TripAdvisor and Revinate weekly to monitor guests' experience within the department, and relay the information to the team and the manager so as to develop a plan of action for improvement and give commendation.
- To manage the pool and beach operations in the temporary absence of the manager.
- To ensure the pool, beach and other facilities, under the department’s care, are correctly set up using the guidelines of the company’s standard operating procedures. This includes but is not limited to watersport equipment, beach and pool games.
- To ensure the team is maintaining and using all equipment under the department’s care correctly, in accordance with the company’s established procedures.
- To ensure that attendants complete all tasks according to the shift checklist or proper follow up is done prior to ending shift.
- Where necessary, facilitate and assist with any activities on and off property to enhance the guests stay. Based on guests occupying the hotel some of these tasks may be of high physical activity inorder to engage a wide range of guests.
- Ensure that there is an attendant assigned to assist with the physical set up of special events booked by guests, eg. Private Beach Dinners and Romance Picnics.
- Ensure rosters, timesheets, and attendance/punctuality records are completed by the allotted time given by the senior manager.
- As flow of business dictates, you may be asked to perform duties of a Pool and Beach Attendant or work overtime.
- To adhere to all safety protocols when accompanying guests with watersports.
- To comply with all hotel procedures and protocols related to infectious diseases.
- Responsible for immediately advising the management team, anything which is considered to be a health or safety hazard.
- To facilitate daily briefings around performances, news, expectations and outlook of the company’s mission, and departmental goals.
- Carries out any other supervisory duties as may be assigned by the management team.
People Management
- When required, actively participates in the recruitment process for the department by identifying staffing needs and shorting potential candidates by utilising the company’s HRIS (BambooHR).
- Conducts candidate interviews as required, and informs the human resources team, Pool and Beach Manager and the Guest Services Manager of successful candidates in a timely manner.

Identifies candidates that are not performing to the expected standards of the company and recommend what steps should be taken.
- Shares the responsibility with the Pool & Beach Manager and Guest Services Manager in conducting annual performance appraisals for department staff, ensuring that the process is fair, free of biases, accurate, and promotes the overall purpose of the performance management system.

Able to access and identify department conflicts and infractions against company policies / procedures, and understands how, when and what form of disciplinary action should be taken.
Training and Development
- Identifies and conducts assessments to determine what training needs are required for staff within the department to increase job knowledge.
- Liaise with the Human Resources - Training and Culture Development team to support the department’s development objectives and ensure that staff are equipped with the necessary tools and materials to effectively execute their daily tasks.
- To carry out or ensure that regular On-the-Job training is taking place to align with the AAA 5 Diamond standards and LQA Benchmark standards.

Knowledge
The Pool & Beach Supervisor must have proficient knowledge in the following areas:
- Knowledge of emergency procedures, First Aid and CPR
- Understand, speak, read and write English at CXC level or equivalent.
- Knowledge of proper safety practices as it relates to all pool and beach activities.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Computer skills including the spreadsheet and word processing programs, and e-mail at a highly proficient level
