About this role:
KKR Credit has a number of active investment strategies across Alternative and Leveraged Credit that represent a range of risk/return and liquidity profiles. The team consists of ~155 dedicated investment professionals in offices in 9 cities in 7 counties. As of June 30, 2021, KKR Credit had ~$170B AUM.
This individual will be integrally involved with all aspects of the asset based credit investment process, including: structuring potential investments, negotiating deal terms, and executing transactions. The individual will work primarily with the asset based credit team within KKR Credit and will interact closely with other KKR businesses such as KKR Capital Markets and other strategies within KKR Credit.
Responsibilities include:
- Assist in all deals on the KKR asset based finance platform working directly with originators and deal teams across both US and Europe to evaluate and structure potential investment opportunities.
- Work with deal teams to negotiate, track and manage deal terms delivering a consistent approach to documentation across the platform.
- Work with legal and compliance to identify legal and compliance issues to streamline deal processes and work to deliver seamless closing execution from a platform risk standpoint.
- Partner with operations to ensure seamless funding and closing execution, which includes regular communication and developing processes to efficiently manage work flow.
- Plan and coordinate KKR training sessions with law firms (i.e., lunch and learns) and leverage law firms or additional resources including secondees.

- We are targeting candidates who are a 4-6th year associate at a top tier law firm in an asset based group with experience across broad range of asset classes and jurisdictions; prior experience with residential and mortgage backed transactions, cross border transactions, and asset heavy FIG businesses is required.
- Candidates must possess superior analytical skills; a solid grasp of financial concepts; exceptional written, interpersonal, and communication skills; attention to detail; and a maturity that enables them to contribute to a collaborative and constructive work environment.
- Experience running and negotiating transactions across a diverse client pool on both lender and borrower side.
- Basic restructuring experience and/or structured finance experience is not a requirement for this position, although will be viewed as a “nice-to-have”.
- Non-legal finance/business experience also a plus (CPA, CFA, banking experience before law school, etc).
