Principal DevOps Engineer

TLDR

Senior infrastructure leader shaping and scaling a mission-critical cloud platform, defining long-term AWS, CI/CD, reliability, and developer experience across a distributed engineering org.

Accountabilities:

In this role, you will define and drive the technical direction of cloud infrastructure and DevOps strategy, ensuring reliability, scalability, and operational maturity across engineering teams.

  • Define the long-term cloud and infrastructure architecture strategy, including AWS platform evolution, scalability planning, and risk mitigation.
  • Establish and enforce organization-wide standards for reliability engineering, observability, incident management, and SRE practices (SLOs/SLIs).
  • Lead DevOps and platform strategy for CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code, and self-service provisioning frameworks.
  • Identify systemic risks across infrastructure, deployment pipelines, and cloud operations, and proactively drive mitigation strategies.
  • Partner with engineering, product, and leadership teams to translate business needs into scalable platform solutions.
  • Own and evolve the developer experience roadmap to reduce operational friction and improve engineering velocity.
  • Mentor senior and staff engineers, promoting best practices in architecture, documentation, and operational excellence.
  • Requirements:

    This role requires a seasoned infrastructure leader with deep cloud expertise, strong architectural judgment, and the ability to influence engineering direction at scale.

    • 8+ years of experience in DevOps, cloud infrastructure, or platform engineering with significant technical leadership impact.
    • Expert-level knowledge of AWS services, including compute, networking, storage, and security architecture.
    • Strong expertise in infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform, including module design and platform-level governance.
    • Deep experience in reliability engineering, including SLO/SLI frameworks, observability systems, and incident lifecycle management.
    • Proven track record of designing and scaling CI/CD systems and DevOps practices across large engineering organizations.
    • Ability to define multi-year infrastructure roadmaps aligned with business and technical priorities.
    • Strong communication skills, with experience influencing senior stakeholders and executive leadership.
    • Experience mentoring and guiding senior/staff engineers in high-scale environments.
    • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
