About the role
As Adept's first design hire, you will plan an integral role in shaping our user-facing product and defining the future of human/machine interaction in the context of large, general models. We are a design-driven company - this design leader will be a valuable part of every product and strategy decision we make at Adept.
Responsibilities
- Establishing the design function at Adept — instilling a user-centric design culture on the team, leading our thinking on design principles, setting the stage for future hires, etc.
- Driving the design of our first product to bring our cutting-edge research to address our users’ biggest pain points in an intuitive and delightful way
- Conducting research to deeply understand and empathize with user workflows and pain points
- Defining user interactions and flows so our users and model can work together creatively; identifying opportunities for human feedback to improve the underlying ML model
- Developing and iterating on prototypes, working closely with users and internal product and engineering teams
Qualifications
- Desire to own the end-to-end design process; describing your vision, determining success, clarifying ambiguity, and helping to drive requirements
- An online portfolio (or work samples) featuring data-centric design projects that demonstrate your product design and UX expertise
- 5+ years of experience in digital product design, with at least 2 years working closely with software engineers on a product involving data science, machine learning, multimodal experiences, voice assistants, and/or human-in-the-loop
- Ability to conceive intuitive and scalable design solutions to quickly ship, learn, and iterate
- Good judgement about when to deliver either low, medium, or high fidelity designs in various stages of the product discovery and development process
- Excellent visual and written communication skills; you’re able to clearly communicate your design principles that support and guide your decision making
- Experience in giving and receiving constructive feedback, to support and improve the work of your colleagues, as well as your own
- Design and prototyping expertise with Figma
