Product Manager, Realm (EMEA)

When MongoDB acquired Realm, one of the most popular mobile databases with 100k+ developers and 2BN+ downloads, we set out together to change the future of application development.  Now we're looking for an engineer with a passion for mobile development and a love of complex, high-level problems to help guide the developer experience we're building.  

As a Product Manager for Realm, you'll help us build and perfect frameworks for the Realm community and extend this work into the cloud, enabling developers to build powerful applications as quickly and simply as possible.

• Approach Realm's development experience with a love of code and an eye for detail
• Engage with cutting-edge technologies, customers, and development communities to predict where the state of application development is headed
• Work at the product level, but dig into code regularly – whether it's collaborating with engineering to perfect syntax on a new feature, helping a customer debug an issue, or reviewing code samples for documentation

Expectations

As a PM for Realm, you will be responsible for:

• Working alongside engineering to define new features for Realm SDKs
• Building relationships with Realm customers and the development community
• Mapping and identifying improvements in a user experience that spans application code, tooling, and backend infrastructure
• Coordinating with teams across MongoDB to clearly communicate and champion for the application developer experience 
• Providing qualitative and quantitatively measures of Realm's success

Success Measures

In 3 months, you'll have gained a deep understanding of MongoDB, Realm, and their respective communities as well as conducting competitive and market research

In 6 months, you'll have identified and created plans for key improvements to Realm through working with customers and the community, helping add to our roadmap.  You'll also help us launch MongoDB Realm, our upcoming platform for mobile development, into public beta

In 12 months, you'll have helped design and ship major features in Realm and be able to measure success with qualitative and quantitative feedback

Requirements

• BS in Computer Science, or equivalent experience
• 4+ years of mobile development experience
• Experience building and shipping successful, modern mobile products 

Successful candidates will also have many of the following qualities

• Experience in developing for mobile (ideally with millions of end-users) and a deep understanding of mobile development best practices 
• Experience with multiple programming languages and appreciation for what makes languages, frameworks, and tools intuitive
• Ability to empathise with developers of all backgrounds and levels of ability
• Ability to craft a narrative with data and communicate it clearly across different mediums  
• A clear writing style and ability to convey plans for complex, abstract projects precisely 
• Participation in developer communities through speaking, blogging, open-source contributions, or other leadership activities
• Exposure to user experience design and user research
• Experience with MongoDB and/or Realm
