Product Manager

$140,000 – $170,000 per year

TLDR

Establish a formal product function, sequence a customer-informed roadmap, and align engineering to solve real-world field problems in an AI-powered estimating platform.

Product Manager

Philadelphia, PA

About the Client

The company builds an AI-powered estimating and proposal platform for specialty construction contractors. Its software-plus-services offering pulls scope out of RFPs, manages RFIs, and generates proposals so estimators stop missing deadlines and start winning the work they actually want.

The business is an early-revenue, growth-stage company. Backed by leading early-stage investors and headquartered in Philadelphia.

About the Role

The engineering team is actively shipping code, but the company does not yet have a formalized product function in place. Today, the engineering organization moves quickly but lacks sequencing, the roadmap largely lives in the founder's head, and structured product rituals are not yet established.

The company is looking for a Product Manager who can bring operational rigor to the product organization, sequence the roadmap, engage directly with customers, and ensure engineering efforts consistently solve real-world field problems.

Responsibilities

  • Run product operations end-to-end, including sprint planning, stand-ups, retrospectives, prioritization, and release notes
  • Own and sequence the product roadmap by translating founder vision and customer feedback into actionable engineering priorities
  • Speak directly with customers including glazing GC presidents, estimators, and bid coordinators to identify operational pain points and convert them into shipped product improvements
  • Partner with the Bid Coordinator team to ensure the human-in-the-loop services side of the platform improves alongside the software product
  • Define and track key product success metrics, including:
    • RFI deadline hit rate
    • Bid value lift
    • Gross margin lift
    • Time-to-proposal
    • Estimator throughput
  • Act as the connective tissue between sales, customer success, and engineering teams
  • Establish a repeatable operating rhythm for a fast-moving engineering organization

Requirements

Must-Haves

  • 4 to 8 years of product management experience, including at least two years at an early- or growth-stage company
  • Proven experience bringing structure and operational cadence to fast-moving, unstructured engineering teams
  • Ability to own the full product lifecycle from customer discovery through release
  • Strong written communication skills with the ability to create clear, actionable product specifications engineers will actually use
  • Comfortable working in AI-native development environments including Claude, Claude Code, agents, and modern AI workflows
  • Strong bias toward execution and shipping product consistently

Nice-to-Haves

  • Construction-tech, AEC SaaS, or vertical SaaS experience
  • Experience with software-plus-services business models where humans and software jointly deliver customer value
  • Veteran or prior service background
  • MBA from a top-tier institution such as Wharton, HBS, or similar programs

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base Salary: $140K–$170K
  • Equity: meaningful early-employee equity grant
  • Compensation above the stated range is possible for exceptional candidates
  • Philadelphia preferred, with an in-person presence expected the majority of the week.
  • Open to NYC-based candidates who can travel to Philadelphia two days per week.
  • Remote-only candidates are not a fit for this role.
