Quantitative Researcher: Internship

Role: Quantitative Researcher Intern

Location: Chicago

At Aquatic, we are actively recruiting for a Quant Researcher Intern in our Chicago office. As part of the role, you will participate in real-world projects designed by full-time employees with continued mentorship along the way. As part of a small team with exposure to multiple areas of research, you will have the opportunity to rapidly grow your knowledge of quantitative finance through a 10-week program.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Undergrad, Masters, or PhD in mathematics, statistics, machine learning, physics, computer science, or other scientific discipline
  • Exceptional mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving ability
  • Strong knowledge of probability and statistics (e.g., machine learning, time-series analysis, pattern recognition, NLP)
  • Comfortable with python, Java, or C++
  • Experience in solving data-intensive problems a plus
  • Demonstrated ability to complete statistical or applied mathematical research a plus
  • Prior experience in a quantitative role within a trading environment a plus

Responsibilities

  • Over the course of 10 weeks, you’ll work with full-time employees who will mentor you as you take on real-world projects within the firm.
  • Participate in quantitative research and the application of quantitative strategies
  • You’ll work side by side with full-timers to learn how we identify market signals, analyze large datasets, build and test models, & create new strategies

Prior to founding Aquatic, Jon was a Partner and Senior Managing Director at Citadel, where he worked for more than 13 years. At Citadel, Jon held numerous senior positions over the years, including head of Statistical Arbitrage and Equity High Frequency, culminating in leading the highly successful Global Quantitative Strategies business.
