The Red Sox are looking for more Grounds Crew members! If you are someone that doesn’t like to work in a traditional office, enjoys being outside, working on a team, has a passion for baseball, or keeping a good-looking lawn, this might be the position for you! This is an opportunity to work on the field at America’s Most Beloved Ballpark. While this position can be demanding, you will work in all kinds of weather, cold, hot, rain and everything in between, you will get to work with some of the best in the business and learn all about what it takes to keep Fenway looking as great as it does. As a member of the Grounds Crew, you will be involved with not only Red Sox games, but also additional non-baseball events on the field as well as daily maintenance on non-event/game days. Due to the nature of the of the position candidates should have the ability to carry at least 50 lb. while running. As mentioned, this position is mostly outdoors and subject to all weather conditions, requires standing for long periods of time and climbing stairs.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepping the field for games and various events
- Dragging the infield during games in between innings
- Collaborating with other crew members to pull the tarp for inclement weather
- Setting up and breaking down batting practice equipment
- Hand watering the dirt and the gras and any other areas necessary
- Field maintenance (mound/plate/infield skin clay work)
- Aeration of the grass
- Extra event work can include concerts, football, hockey, softball and others
CHARACTERISTICS / QUALIFICATIONS:
- A team player! This position is demanding and requires a lot of attention to detail and hard work. Having the best attitude while working with your teammates is a must.
- Work quickly under pressure and is a good listener to directions given by the supervisor.
- We ask that all employees interact professionally with staff, supervisors, and any fan at the ballpark.
- Ability to commit to the Grounds Crew schedule which includes: Nights, weekends, holidays, game and non-game day. We also ask that you have the ability to work entire events including pre and post-game/event actives, which can be up to 7 hours.
- Must have strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to read, speak and comprehend English.
- Must be able to lift, carry and transport large boxes and items in excess of 50 pounds while running.
- Demonstrate flexible and efficient time management and ability to prioritize workload.
- Meet department productivity standards.
The Red Sox (or FSM) requires proof of being up-to-date on COVID-19 vaccination as a condition of employment, subject to applicable legal requirements.
