Retirement Plan Compliance Analyst, (RPA)
TLDR
Remote management of end-to-end retirement plan administration, compliance testing, and client support for defined contribution plans.
- Manage full-cycle administration for a portfolio of 401(k), profit-sharing, and cross-tested retirement plans.
- Perform compliance testing, including ADP/ACP, 415, 410(b), Top Heavy, and 401(a)(4) testing requirements.
- Coordinate year-end plan valuations and interpret plan documents to ensure regulatory compliance.
- Process participant transactions such as loans, hardship withdrawals, distributions, and related plan activities.
- Prepare and file required government and IRS forms, including Forms 5500, 8955, and 5330.
- Reconcile plan assets and perform trust accounting activities to ensure data accuracy.
- Import, manage, and validate participant and census data within administration systems.
- Evaluate and recommend plan design enhancements to support compliance and client objectives.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for clients, providing guidance on plan administration matters with professionalism and clarity.
- Utilize internal technology and process improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and service quality.
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Mathematics, Accounting, or a related field.
- 3–5+ years of retirement plan administration experience, preferably within a Third-Party Administrator (TPA) environment.
- Strong expertise in defined contribution plan administration and compliance testing.
- Solid understanding of ERISA regulations and retirement plan compliance requirements.
- Experience preparing government filings and regulatory documentation.
- Proficiency with retirement plan administration software; experience with Relius is preferred.
- Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent organizational and project management abilities with strong attention to detail.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills with a client-focused mindset.
- Ability to work independently and successfully manage priorities in a remote work environment.
- ASPPA credentials, or progress toward certification, are strongly preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
