SAP Technical Development Lead

TLDR

Lead SAP development and delivery for large-scale S/4HANA transformations, blending ABAP expertise with team leadership and cross-functional collaboration.

Accountabilities:
  • Lead the design, development, estimation, and delivery of SAP technical objects (FRICEW: Forms, Reports, Interfaces, Conversions, Enhancements, and Workflows) across full project lifecycles.
  • Manage and coordinate a team of SAP developers, assigning tasks, tracking progress, and ensuring delivery aligns with project timelines and quality standards.
  • Provide hands-on ABAP development expertise, including custom enhancements, reports, interfaces, and transactions based on technical and functional specifications.
  • Act as a technical liaison between functional consultants, project managers, and client stakeholders to ensure alignment on solution design and execution.
  • Conduct technical QA reviews, enforce SAP development standards, and ensure adherence to best practices across all deliverables.
  • Mentor and coach junior and mid-level developers, supporting capability growth and knowledge sharing within the team.
  • Participate in project planning, status reporting, and FRICEW estimation and reconciliation activities.
  • Support continuous improvement by contributing to internal SAP standards, demo systems, and development methodologies.
  • Requirements:

    • 10+ years of SAP technical development experience with strong expertise in ABAP and enterprise SAP environments.
    • Proven experience delivering at least five full-cycle SAP implementations, including leadership on multiple end-to-end projects.
    • Demonstrated experience leading SAP development teams of 5+ members in complex project environments.
    • Strong knowledge of S/4HANA architecture and related SAP technologies, with willingness to continuously learn emerging SAP tools.
    • Deep hands-on experience in SAP development areas such as enhancements, interfaces, reports, conversions, forms, and workflows.
    • Strong ability to manage multiple priorities, work in fast-paced environments, and deliver against tight project timelines.
    • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills across technical and non-technical audiences.
    • Experience mentoring teams and enforcing SAP development best practices and coding standards.
    • Exposure to modern SAP technologies such as RESTful ABAP, Fiori, OData, and workflow tools is an advantage.
    • Familiarity with Agile delivery environments and SAP cloud or upgrade projects is a plus.
