Work hours: Average of 40 hours per week 

THE ROLE OVERVIEW 

We are looking for capable and strong individuals to join our security team this winter season. As a Security Guard, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety and security of our premises, staff, and guests. You will be responsible for monitoring and maintaining a secure environment through regular patrols, surveillance, and proactive engagement with individuals on site. Your duties will include identifying and addressing potential security threats, responding to incidents, and enforcing facility rules and regulations. The ideal candidate should possess strong observational skills, excellent communication abilities, and a commitment to maintaining a safe atmosphere for all.

Previous experience dealing with intoxicated individuals, conflict resolution, and diffusing arguments is preferred.

SECURITY RESPONSIBILITIES 

1. Ensure the safety and security of patrons, staff, and property

2. Monitor and control access points, checking identification, and enforcing age restrictions

3. Conduct regular and thorough inspections of the premises to identify and address potential security risks

4. Respond promptly and professionally to incidents, disturbances, or unruly behavior, employing conflict resolution  and de-escalating techniques.

5. Maintain a visible and authoritative presence to deter inappropriate behavior and maintain a secure environment. 

6. Assist other departments and teams during quiet periods. Additional work could include driving and kitchen hand.

WHAT YOU NEED

• Legal right to live and work in Japan (typically via a Working Holiday Visa)
• Experience as a security guard preferred 
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Willingness to work flexible hours, evenings, mornings, weekends, and holidays, as per the requirements of the establishment
• Ability to handle a fast-paced and dynamic work environment and to stand for long periods, lift heavy objects (such as kegs or cases of beverages), and handle the physical demands of the job
• Strong work ethic and a team first mentality 
• English fluency; Japanese a bonus 
• Driving license and International Driving Permit
• Ability to commit until at least March 31, 2027

SECURITY SHIFTS

Security guards are required to work approximately 40 hours per week. Security shifts are typically scheduled between the hours of 12pm - 2am.

ACCOMMODATION

HHG provides staff accommodation in central Hakuba (mainly in Happo Village, Wadano, and Kamishiro). Options include shared or private rooms depending on your role.
